It's probably one of the worst things about ADCs because it contributes a lot more to "playing against" frustration than it contributes to the overall balance of the class.

Since Meddler mentioned in his thread the concern of ADCs being too frontloaded with shiv + crit, well here's a way to reduce that. It really is a problem since the main strength of the class is sustained ranged damage without significant windows of downtime. The downtime is random, it's when you don't happen to crit... Is that what you want to continue trying to balance around?

imo sustained damage should be very consistent. You should have a lot of certainty when you attack somebody and they should have a lot of certainty too. The high moments should be from making correct decisions, when you attack at the right time, when you dodge something, when you land something.

The idea that you can just let crit average out over time is flawed because in many situations (arguably in the current meta it's most situations) very few attacks are exchanged before a champion dies. These situations are what fuel player frustration.
