It seems that we are coming close to the end of loot boxes with all the talk about getting them classified as gambling. I was just wondering if anyone at riot has thought of what to do if this does happen. Would we just go back to the old IP only system or would you guys think of something brand new?
Hopefully the old system. Everything about this system feels like rubbing your eyes against rusty barbed wires
Yeah it looks like the ball finally started rolling, but it could be years before we see any change from it.
Besides, whatever the outcome will be its unlikely to affect the BE system we currently have since the capsules you get are free so thats never going to be considered gambling (because it simply isn't gambling). The only things it will most likely affect is anything you have to spent something on in order to get a random chance of getting something out. But even if something is going to affect those things don't expect too much, maybe it'll just get age restricted, or maybe riot would have to reveal you the true odds of what your getting out of them. It's not going to be all that amazing for us.
But no matter what happens, Riot will not go back to the old IP system, BE and OE fit in thematically way more then IP ever could.
Still, it is a good thing that this is happening, the games industry could use a little kick in the balls now and then.
