The Case For And Against 5 Champion Bans Per Team
Increasing the ban to 5 bans per team has been a frequent conversation in the League of Legends community - today I will be exploring both the case for and against doing this. Below I have compiled arguments for and against increasing ban size per team to 5 and have included ideas of my own. Please respond with any insight or arguments for either case and additionaly any thought on how a system with 5 bans would look like. I know I'm bronze but I'm still human. (insert Kappa)?
Lol don't hate on me - one of my first posts ever
The Case AGAINST 5 Champion Bans Per Team:
-
Lower Elo players (like me) try to limit their champion pool in order to get better at them and climb - stuck in a role due to autofill (for me this would be adc or top) and want to only play a meta champ so you don't fed and get flamed? --> sorry it'll have a higher chance of getting banned
-
Professional Esports Argument (duh)
-
For roles that only have a few meta champions per patch of few patches - like jungle and adc - availble meta champs will be limited to pick (assuming only meta champions are banned and targert bans don't occur or banning counters to a intended champion don't occur)
-
Target banning for streamers champion pools increases rip Jared?

-
Champion select would (probably take longer though Riot might create a new system of pick/ban if 5 bans per team is introduced) take longer (not much of a concern for most players - still important to consider)
-
More one trick ponies would dodge as their champ has a higher chance of being banned (espically if in meta...talking to you zed/yas players who ONLY play them) - consequently increasing queue time and frustration (which may lead to future tilt) - - this relates to number 5, causing it to be a MAJOR concern
The Case FOR 5 Champion Bans Per Team:
-
"...promote team diversity or produce some more interesting comps.” - Riot Member - **INTERESTING COMPS ** INTERESTING COMPS INTERESTING COMPS
-
Riot would mostly likely increase required champions to have from 16 to 20 - forcing SOME level 30s to play more normals before joining ranked instantly - something I regret (though this is kinda an irrelevant argument as many level 30 have more than 20 champions - have met some though)
-
As amount of champions increase, why not bans? Kinda makes sense
-
Forces players to expand champion pool and explore other roles - can be seen as good and bad
-
Lesser played champions will be seen more frequently in games - because of 10 bans most likely centering meta and OP champs
