I'm Interested in Upcoming Ryze Update
Though I am in silver, I play Ryze a lot.
In patch 6.3, many Ryze mains complained about the nerfs lowering the amount of spells he could cast while supercharged. Personally, I thought this was a move in the right direction. It meant more time positioning for the next time his passive would be up. It also made him much less oppressive with shorter windows of power (what were the designers thinking when they initially released him?) But the most important reason I liked this change was because I thought this would be a step towards making Ryze more like he was in the LoL trailers which I watched many years back.
I thought he was such a cool champion. What stood out to me was not his tattoos or his scroll, but how he was always running. He was the Rogue Mage, that was his title under his name. He didn't want glory, money, or any part in some Runeterran nation war. He was a just a man on his own journey. He always tries his best regardless of who he goes against, whether it be a yordle scout or void monster. That's why I liked picking him so much. And like Ryze on his endless quest for knowledge, a Ryze player could always improve.
So I am curious as to who he will be. Will he be a walking magic machine gun obliterating all who stand in his path? Or perhaps he'll be the magic man on the run, weaving in between enemy skillshots while throwing out spells of his own?
Regardless of how he'll end up, I hope the team working on him go all out. "Don't hold me up!". He could really use a less raspy voice actor though. Sounds the same as Shaco.
>Bonus Running Magic Man Build for fun :)< Do you want to speed through the rift with Ryze like in this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzMnCv_lPxI
Then try this: Runes- +1.5% movement speed x3 Masteries- Wanderer. Explorer. Stormraider's Surge. Summoner Spells- Flash. Ghost. Items- Boots. Luden's Echo. Lich Bane.
While not a serious build, you will be terribly quick. If you are somehow in the lead, this would allow you to easily secure kills. Try engaging like so Upon proc-ing Stormradier's, your spells would likely be on cooldown. Perfect time to chase after your opponent so they would be in range when your spells are up. While Stormraider's is active, flash to close in distance, ghost in, and ult. Combined with items, runes, and masteries, you should be able to close distance in a very short time. However, you don't stop here, with ghost active, you want to run right through your opponent and towards their destination!
Now your opponent is either continuing to run in the same direction (towards you) or away from you, towards your base. Either way it's a kill secured and it's just fun being able to completely outrun enemies (rather than just permasnaring them :/). Alternatively, you could simply run past your target, and all the way to their base to kill them there. I've done it once and it was very funny. Try it out!
