I am quite toxic, and I want voice chat.

I have played League of Legends since Season 2 (never been banned, only chat restricted), and I will admit I am quote "Toxic", I have actually stopped playing ranked (for now) and would continue again if this game were to have a voice chat feature.

Before I actually ever played League of Legends I had played many other games, mostly MMORPGS, and the idea of restricting someones chat because they are abusive hadn't even crossed my mind, in no other game had i ever really been abused for felt the need or urge to abuse others, Riot doesn't have a toxic community, League is just a toxic game. It's the same principle as ranked, if you are good, you should rise, because you're the only consistent factor amongst your teams, every player who plays League is just a random gamer who decided they are going to try League of Legends, they aren't planning to abuse or be kind, they are neutral players, it's the setting of the game that makes me people toxic, not the people themselves.

Now this moves me into my next point, the number one argument/excuse Riot gives up for no voice is... "It's hard to monitor and punish toxic players" to this I say, you're never, ever going to be able to stop toxicity in this game in its current state. Because you're banning the "toxic" players when in reality it is the game, it doesn't matter how many people you ban, how many players you chat restrict, if you put 5 random people together in a high pressure environment with little to no communication in a situation that actually requires a great deal of communication they will become frustrated, most will become angry and many will abuse/argue with one another. No amount of banning, chat restricting even rewarding will EVER fix this problem. Do you know what will do more to fix this problem then random run of the mill punishments? VOICE CHAT. it's just natural human psychology/behaviour that if you have voice chat with someone you are far less likely to become frustrated to the point where you tell them to get cancer and go die. And if arguments do arise it will be far easier to solve them and get back on good terms, whereas in chat, one the disagreement starts it's pretty much over, it's going to just be spam in the chat, I can't say I've seen people who begin arguing defuse their argument over chat as it's very, very hard to do because chat really is a horrible means of communication.

I won't say anymore this video from SivHD (who I'm not a fan of, I actually didn't like him till I saw this) really summaries why it's completely illogical to not have voice chat in a game like League of Legends. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1n7KstfRzvs ** TL;DR The main argument against voice chat is that it'd be hard to monitor and ban the toxics, yet it's basically indisputable fact that having voice chat would lower toxicity, (it's just human nature) and the main reason toxic players are toxic is not because they actually just love abusing people, it's because they are frustrated, being in a high pressure situation with 4 random people with essentially no communication causes arguments. (wow who would have thought?!) furthermore I've been playing this game since Season 2 and despite Season 2 having no chat restrictions and people being banned unheard of the game hasn't got any less toxic with the rise in punishments because it isn't the players that are toxic IT'S THE GAME, everyone who installs and loads up League for the first time isn't like "Hey I'm going to go tell my teammates to get cancer" no they go into the game generally neutral. Same principle in ranked, if you're bad you will lose more then you win generally, if you're good you generally win more then you lose, if you're a game that puts players in a stressful situation with out the proper tools to handle it you will breed frustration. Damn I almost need a TL:DR of the TL;DR**

League is a toxic game.

Why is this getting down voted? I'm assuming down voters think voice chat wouldn't reduce toxicity? If so what is your logic/reasoning for this, if you're voice chatting with someone you will clearly be less toxic then if you were voice chatting.

I agree that voice chat improves the overall communication of a team and in many case reduces and/or completely diffuses toxicity. But I also don't see voice chat as a solution to toxicity. I disagree that LoL is inherently toxic as a game. I've seen plenty of toxic behavior in voice and chat of other games. Use of foul language, berating of teammates, etc. I've seen it all in other games (that use voice chat).

Siv is correct that voice chat would reduce overall toxicity by improving player communication. But I also think that the absence of voice chat in LoL is part of makes makes it so evident that toxicity exists.

Now, the mute option... "after years of science they found a solution it's a mute button we have it in Counterstrike as well [as LoL]" that means that all the cases Siv has where other players are toxic to him in LoL are cases where Siv could choose to use the mute option.

So... why would he choose to use the mute option in CS:GO, but not use the mute option in LoL? Indeed, why don't all players in LoL simply make use of the mute option when they encounter toxicity? "and then sometimes if it does happen I have to use my mouse and mute"

So the fact that voice chat reduces overall toxicity isn't the entirety of the issue here. Maybe what Siv really wants is a greater degree of communication with his teammates. Because as Siv admits, toxicity exists in voice chat in other games as well.

So what this actually comes down to is your argument that "you're never, ever going to be able to stop toxicity in this game".
