Killing players who are behind

So I was wondering do you think its "fair" to kill another player who say their game crashed randomly and they don't log into the game until after its been 4-5 minutes and at level 3 you kill them while they're level 1. There are other instances of this like in lane players who are a couple of levels ahead will purposely kill level 1 characters not giving them any chance to catch up somewhat at least. I just got out of a game like this where I was jungle and I went to red and the other jungle had already taken it and I attacked him so he decided to kill me. Then I go to blue and his waiting in the bush and then proceeds to kill me even while I'm trying to run back to base. It was frustrating to say the least especially after my game crashed but my teammates thought it was unfair. Is there such a thing? What is your take on how fair it is to kill an opponent who is behind due to technical issues that isn't there fault?

Personally, I'd say that if it's a gap of 4 levels or less, you're fair game. After the first time, you may have been better off leeching some experience from top until you can jg. Once it's a 5 level difference, it's bad manners.

My take:

While unfair, I will generally do it anyway unless it's a friendly match. If it's Ranked, you'd be an idiot NOT to do it since you're definitely playing to win at all costs. If it's Normals, then it's largely up to the enemy team how fair they feel like being and (as was mentioned below) how much your team can punish them if they decide to take advantage.

I take pride in it

I think when you play online games, you can expect that the majority of people are going to be the types of people who take it too seriously and sometimes also treat it as a release to act like shits, when they ordinarily couldn't or wouldn't otherwise. I've repeated what happened to a friend of mine and they said that's why they don't play online games anymore....lots of "psycho's". I will say looking back on it the guy did act a little bit psychotic and weird about it. But then again this is the type of behavior that can be endorsed through online games, and part of the reason I think why some people enjoy playing them so much.

Overall I would say as long as I've been playing moba games its been like that though. Sometimes people are nice about it, a lot of times they are not. They're really doesn't seem to be such a thing as "fair" in the context of these types of games, and people will use that to full advantage to act pathetic and strange.

This will also hurt the players who say have a good level 1 kill and set their laning opponent back and get ahead in levels. Why is it fair that the player who died level 1 and is now a level or 2 behind now gets a type of handicap so they can easily regain ground in the game. Your team needs to be there to help you if you connect a little later because the other jungler is obviously going to invade, ask for help from your top/mid and ward up and you can come back pretty easy from being 2 levels down like that.

Flyboys - it's a World War I movie about biplane pilots. At one point of the pilots gun jams and he's sitting there flying around trying to fix it, his enemy see's he's having difficulty, looks him in the eye and nods, doesn't shoot him down.

In that same movie - a pilot is shot down, and lands alive. The guy that shot him down then flies down and shoots him to death on the ground...

The same applies to League, you've got the gentleman, and then you've got the All In Competitor who takes advantage of any edge he gets.

In my opinion - honor is all good. Winning is good too.
