Why Exp Changes Were Necessary

Qiyana, Sylas, Ekko, Aatrox, and the list goes on of the many flex picks between jungle and solo lanes we've seen in just the past year. Or even flex picks between bot lane and solo lanes. Sometimes a champions viability in competitive was being fully augmented by the fact they were a flex pick. Not because they were just all around broken. It makes it hard to balance these champions then.

How do you nerf a champion that isn't overwhelming in any particular role, but is pick/banned constantly in pro games because of its flexibility? Then do this 5 or 10 times over for all the different champions that can do this.

The point of these exp changes are (as far as I can see) to help define where a champion should be played based on the role they are supposed to fulfill. The experience gap between jungle and mid lane is large enough that if you are debating between playing a hard carry jungle or mid (and this champion has the option to do both) it will be more effective to play that champion mid for the extra levels.

For the purpose of general game balance, you can see why Riot would want to do this.

I am sure Riot will eventually come out with some kind of small changes that will make jungle somewhat less punishing, but I highly doubt that they will revert the overall experience gain changes.
