ryze is sitting at a 38% winrate right now

I mean, I get that players are just learning him, but even release champions like taliyah, aurelion sol, had 45% winrate prior to their buffs.

I've played against new ryze several times, and he doesn't seem weak at all, yet his winrate is sitting at release syndra levels. What gives?

Every time a new champion or champion update comes out, it ends up looking a little weak.

Every time, Riot gives them some buffs so as to help them out.

Then every time, Riot ends up having to nerf the champion in question because people finally figured out how to play said champion, making them OP.

Because new Ryze is incredibly combo-based, which makes him hard to play for people who aren't used to his playstyle.

I think that it's going to take awhile for people to get him. He seems very skill intensive.

Ryze has many combos, newer players just don't know them. Without combos, ryze isn't very strong.

Take into account that we are not learning a new champ but relearning an old one. Your "ryze muscle memory" has to adjust. Nothing unusual.

My guess is that players that were used to playing Ryze are struggling because he lost a lot of his survivability. His shield is weaker and more situational and his spellvamp is gone. He also needs to engage before he gets his speed boost, meaning he no longer has a good way to engage.

I also am guessing it will take a while for players to get used to his new ultimate, which now occupies a lot of his power budget.

It'll be interesting to see what happens if they don't touch him for a patch or two. If they do, I hope they look at aspects other than his damage. If his win rate stays low, I think giving him more utility is a better solution than more damage.

Taliyah didn't sit at a 45% winrate AT ALL on release. Her winrate was 38%, and that was when it was peaking before her buffs. I saw it drop as low as 36%.

I think it's that people don't know how to use him in teamfights effectively. In lane, he's really strong, but you have to be clever to do well with him later game.

Maybe he does need a buff, but I'm certain that even with properly balanced stats he would be around 45% winrate or lower due to the fact that he's simply harder to play now.

the new ryze is very strong and very easy to play but for some reason i see so many ryze players fail really hard

Taliyah was in the low 30's but besides that:

He's actually a semi-difficult champion (it comes with being a combo-based champion) and so he'll be harder to learn than most other release champs

In my opinion it's because you need the right team comp to play him well, and people at lower levels lack communication and team building.

Sorry, where are all these bad Ryze players? The dude is really strong and not that hard to learn.

Azir too. Both weak champions. They need buffs.

Shadòw7/21/2016, 1:13:22 PM1 votes

Taliyah had like 37% when she came out

Critmaster Garen7/21/2016, 1:27:39 PM1 votes

Yes riot messed up bad on balancing ryze. The funny part is even though ryze has the lowest win rate in the game, he has the highest ban rate. http://champion.gg/champion/Ryze
