Feedback : I'm not a fan of the position ranks.

Even with the splash, I still don't care much if I'm in in my main role. It feels really crappy to have the amount of LP you gain or lose from a game be determined by an invisible algorithm that decides what lane I'm in, and just over all it feels very cluttered. I only care about my League rank. Just as part of my rank is my ability to change my build/champ to different games, part of that skill is the ability to play different roles. I don't have enough shits to give to pay attention or care about five whole ranks, I only care about my main, my off lanes could be iron for all I care.

Edit: That means I feel even worse about getting placed in an off lane now. Off lane games are just a waste of my time, I find myself simply dodging the game rather than wasting my time on what I see as basically a normal game. If I wanted to play norms, would have qued up for norms.

More than anything the problem is apathy, I don't care about my off main roles, when I win I don't feel very rewarded and when I lose it's not that big of a deal.

In fairness I have not played that many games yet, so it might even out, but I wanted to throw my feedback anyway. Riot, I know you why you want position ranks, I know you have tried hard to solve the apathy problem, but my initial thoughts still lean in a negative mood for the entire change.

What's so bad about how ranked is, and always has been? Ya, I know there are a lot of answers to that, but I also know that for every problem you "solved" with the position ranks you just created new problems. Ranked has been going strong for closing in on a decade now, it's an effective model that people like. It's like flex que, no one was asking for it. I'm wise enough to know I might have a change of heart as time goes on, but I have the same feelings about position rank I had about flex que. It's a good idea in theory, but in practice is just clunky and un-fulfilling.

I think the population was falling, and between that and some roles simply being weaker (like the new jungle) it's mostly an early attack on longer q times before they become a real problem. People are still free to main 1 role, and tbh, will probably get autofilled a lot less now that autofill is encouraged.

So for you I'd say hell, just keep playing the way you did before and it really has no impact on you. If you played all roles before then it just means overall you get a bonus, if not, well you still don't have to play other roles.

In essence, this change should have either no impact on a single/dual role player, or benefit them by autofilling them less. End of the day, your top role will still land you your end of season rank.

I'm still skeptical of how it'll handle the rare player with vastly diff skill levels based on role, but we'll see.
