Basically
rush isn't (as) viable any more because all of the stats are changed to Per Level, getting another item in your build before finishing it would be more ideal though I heavily advise you consider your team composition before throwing 1000 gold at anything besides your augments (for example, if your team is a Wombo Combo, Gravity Field Augment will be important to ensure your Wombo is even stronger) in fact if you can get
first back to upgrade your Deathray that's still ideal but you can and in some cases should consider completing other items before you finish upgrading your Hexcore.
You also lose like, 50 Mana in the late game for 12 more AP. Overall this is a nerf to his early and mid game (which, let's be real here, was pretty strong in the right hands) for a negligible buff to his late. It's a nerf, but it's far from the end of the world because they (so far as I know) haven't actually reduced his ratios or anything.
