Honestly I was excited when missions came out...
But now I'm making a point of ignoring them. I thought it would be either a mini-quest that you complete in your own time, or a Hearthstone-type thing where you get daily quests to get a quick bump of IP instead of first win of the day and events are hyped up by giving you extra rewards.
Instead, they're
- All tied to events. This would be fine, except it means all of them are time limited, which combines with the fact that
- They're genuinely hard. Making something time-limited and hard makes sense, as long as you make sure the reward is satisfying and you have other more basic tasks and rewards, but
- The rewards are underwhelming, over priced, and poorly distributed.
I understand why icons are a desirable reward for riot to give out, but the ONE SLOT we get to show them off in very limited situations is insanely oversaturated. I was excited to get Santa Baron, and the Poro King, because limited icons were new, but almost every limited icon since has done nothing for me but water down the value of those two. Maybe if you let us trade icons or something...but as he system stands, it's a lot like "limited" quarters in the U.S. - when it was just here states, it was fun, now it feels like every quarter you get is a "Special" one.
This means that A. It feels like there's no point in participating in missions unless you're gonna go all-out for them (because no mid-tier rewards and the token system is garbage) and B. Spending the time and effort to do all the missions doesn't seem exciting anyway, since they're hard, not fun, and the sum of all the rewards is usually something I could spend $10 cash to get - I value my time at >$2 an hour, sorry.
So yeah, I made the decision to just ignore missions, and I instantly felt better. When you're trying to do them, it feels hopeless, frustrating, and despairing. When you just give up and play league for fun, it feels a lot better.
