I've thought of a simple, but great team placement for the Rift.

I highly advise you to read the post. If you don't, go to the TL;DR at the bottom, however it'll sound very unorthodox and vague to you. You've been notified.

So, I've just finished watching the video of the Patch Rundown, which was quite informative, even though most of the changes do not apply to what I prefer to play. Nonetheless, this has sparked some great ideas for how the Rift can be on its way to a better, more say interesting, state. That's not to say others have great ideas, and perhaps they have better ideas than I do! Thinking is good for you.

When the thought of roaming supports were mentioned, which I do play that role, it sparked a thought. What if the placement of mid lane and the 2 person bottom lane were swapped? Now, what I believe that this makes an effective placement is creating even more threat than besides the jungler coming in to assist the lanes. With roaming supports coming into the assisting/ganking picture, this creates pressure for every lane. This outline still supports some of the same points that the current team placement gives: dragon control, lane safety (to a point), etc.

A main concern for this that people may bring up is the safety of mid lane that gives to champions that are, dare I say, "intended" for that lane. Sure, this does give less opportunites to create pressure in either current top/bot lane for the current mid laner. However, the state is simply shifted over to the support, which some have more effective crowd control than the mid laner. With the current mid lane comprising of mostly AP champs and some AD caster champs, they still retain their own lane and still have their solo experience to power up on.

Top is basically unaffected by this, unless the current top and mid switch lanes, so that in this new change, current mid champs go solo top and current top champs go solo bot. And following the new top/bot lane swap, this gives current top champions (and the players who play them), a more direct involvement with dragon and other objectives.

On another point relating to the support, I believe this will make the support role much more exciting and even more valuable to their team, since they can impact the whole game right from the start instead of just mattering for your current bottom lane, and then transitioning to impacting the whole game when you start to join teamfights.

The current team placement of 1 top (melee carries, tanks, and sadly ranged champs leaking in), 1 jungle, 1 mid, and 2 bot has been in place for a very long time. Yes, it's a safe and still effective team placement strategy. Bold changes have been taking place since with the current duo bot lane and top switching lanes, which has its own benefits/risks. But, with this change I propose, this can offer more opportunities for every member on the team and gives more responsibilities, while making it a more exciting early-mid game experience. We all know how before they wanted to create a passive early game. This can certainly give us the change of making the game exciting from the very start of the match. I would love to hear thoughts and opinions on this, and am open to constructive criticism. Thanks in advance for taking the time on reading my word wall.

TL;DR: Let's switch the lanes of duo bot and mid to create more exciting opportunities from the start of the game. I advise you to read the post to get a better understanding of my ideas behind it. Thanks.

Is that what they're really doing?

I'm being honest here and with saying that I'm completely oblivious to it. I don't watch other countries play, and if this relates, and neither LoL E-Sports.

If this is apparently true, since when did they start doing it?
