So you say League of Legends isn't losing players

As if you have any proof of that. I hate to say it but it seems a hell of a lot like they are. They've stopped showing how proud they are about how big the playerbase is and queue times have gotten longer in EVERY SINGLE QUEUE (you can't apply the draft excuses to blind.)

You don't have proof they're not losing players. We don't have proof they are. What we do have is the ability to observe and I'm pretty sure it looks more than ever like they're losing players.

If any of you can, think back to when Blizzard refused to give information about the size of their playerbase while everybody was busy telling everybody else the game was fine and that it wasn't dying. Then think about how they lost about half of their players around then and how World of Warcraft could be considered dead compared to what it used to be (even if it's not dead now.)

What if the same thing happens to League of Legends? You won't really have anything to defend then. With all of the shitty choices Riot **Tencents **and Riot have been making I wouldn't be surprised if the game does die soon.

Oh well, none of us will ever know unless we get some legitimate information or until this game actually dies, and we should all stop acting like we do.

Riot sent out a ban-wave on euw today over using a program that let you have the skins for free but only you saw. Riot warned people to delete the program then 6 months later even if you deleted it Riot banned you. I was banned for no reason as well but I read they have the right to ban you no matter if it was valid or not.

so, you ask for proof that league isn't losing players, and in the same phrase you say league is losing players but provides no proof??

Lol. This is just a circlejerk qq thread.

I've seen nothing to make it look like they are losing players.

And don't use third party programs.

Anecdotally, about 80% of my friends list is "last seen" within a couple weeks of dynamic queue screwing everything up.

That's only 20 or so data points, but it's supporting evidence for the whole "DQ makes the game not fun" hypothesis.

I just don't get why the game has to be uprooted so massively all the time. "If it's not broke, don't fix it." Yes, there are broken things about this game; but the odd part is that most MAJOR changes don't even seem to be addressing these. They just flip the game around like it was the natural choice all along. (Wtf?) In what business is that a good strategy when people seem to LIKE what you've been doing so far?

i had this conversation with someone and it went as follows.

"Asinine do you honestly fucking believe this player base is going to vanish completely? come on now this is the most popular online game in this day in age you are stupid if you think riot is done."

i responded with this

"You don't die of HIV, it slowly eats away your immune system. Then one day you will end up on your death bed."

Even if League of Legends lost HALF its player base, it would still be 2x bigger then the next most played game (WoW).

Also btw this has been said a thousand times, but Tencent has no control over how Riot works, you would know this if you read the contract Riot publicly released on Tencent buying out Riot.

Some evidence consistent with the hypothesis of declining userbase:

  1. Half my friends list went inactive including everyone I added at the start of season 6 (about 5 people).
  2. Almost all of my friends who do play now ARAM exclusively (10 people)
  3. At least 2 decayed from diamond to gold 1, playing zero games since March.
  4. At least 3 are plat or diamond and only play ranked to maintain their ranking.
  5. All the new players I made friends with in bot games and normals have quit.

the original crew that set up riot is all but gone.

here i am hoping they will come up with a new game that blows LoL out of the water

I seem to remember one of Riot's reports actually mentioning their playercount had dropped from ~65m/month to ~60m/month, but I don't remember when the report was (last year maybe?). It's also possible that their playercount is shifting demographics, perhaps declining in NA but increasing in China - This would look like a decline to us NA folks but wouldn't be a decline in global playercount.

Just because the company isn't publicly releasing numbers doesn't mean those numbers are bad, though. It might simply mean they don't feel like releasing them. Maybe they feel they don't have anything to prove. Maybe they don't want to pay employees to gather the data and publish it in a releasable form. Maybe they really are bad. Who knows?

Gee yea ignore the massive player base of over 7 million people
