What to do as a supp if you adc doesn't want to engage?

I mean I know all you can really do is just sit while they farm but some adc's refuse to poke also, so the enemy team just pokes the adc down then I have two options 1: Die to save them 2: Let them die then get blamed

Like wtf, supp is hard life for real.

The thing is guys...I've played with Caitlins that refuse to poke. I have enough experience in bot lane to know when NOT to be aggressive. But if you go all of laning phase without auto attacking an enemy then chances are you are a bad adc. If your braum dives onto a twitch whos supp is in mid lane and you sit there attacking a minion while twitch gets away then please stop playing league.

As a mid/adc main (adc is best role) Often when I dont want to engage theres a good reason for it. Bot lane is a dance. you gotta follow the leader. All you can do is harass and poke from a distance set up vision. Mostly when I dont want to engage is because

  1. The other team has a mia
  2. No vision
  3. The other team just did drake
  4. Idk where bot lane is (can be flankin if im too aggro)
  5. enemy has ward in bush
  6. Scale better late game ( IE. Ezreal, vayne etc. (most adcs are like his but lucian whose really aggro lvl 2 if played right)
  7. other side has a harass lane (poke or kill dont want to give kills)
  8. waitin for an item or a certain lvl ( like 2-3) (bf/zeal for vayne and most adcs before engaging)
  9. waitin for a gank from jger.
  10. Hoping enemy bot laner messes up and gets caught out

Hope this helps.

Or 3: get good and learn to deal with it. /s

Ok, on a more serious approach... Whether you are playing backliners or tanky frontliners, you're gonna have to do some "leading" action, but not at the expense of yourself.

So for example, if you want your ADC to quit pussying out and get his ass and start trading, be aggressive on your own but don't get yourself killed/poked down trying to force aggression. So if you are a backliner peeler, try standing a little more to the front of your ADC (though side-by side), and just auto enemies. If you want your ADC to back the fuck off, stand a little to the back yourself, but don't run so far behind that you're no longer in peel range. And don't commit suicide unless you KNOW your ADC is fed as fuck and seriously can't die. Sometimes, even more experienced ADC players tend to follow their support's actions and playstyles, so you're gonna have to manage your "leading" actions. YES, EVEN IF YOU ARE JANNA.

However, if they still somehow won't do what they should be doing even after your "passive aggressive leading", that's their fault. And if they whine, forget about them. Don't let idiots tell you what to do if you truly believe you are smarter.

tell them that you are not engaging

sit back

sip tea

do nothing unless you're clearly needed.

yellow ping if they get too far from you.

Just let that Ez farm. He will turn on and go mental midgame. Till then...good luck mate.

The answer is 2. If you try to trade back and the ADC is taking free damage, there's little you can do. After laning is over, try helping whoever on your team is doing best.

Duo with someone who plays ADC as a primary to avoid people like that. And dodge every game you are not both bot.

1v2 like the champ and go full damage of course

Overlapping circles of aggression. They shouldnt be able to poke your adc without taking harass from you and vice versa.

This is why ranged supports are so popular along with long range adcs.

You both have to know the match ups and who wins. If your adc is bad all you can do is try to cover him and roam when you can. I mainly play adc knowing the poke patterns of the support and when I can free harass the other adc.

The worst thing you can do is die with him.

Keep in mind, and if they are both hitting the adc, then you are completely free to harass while moving to safety.

It is very easy to find adc to duo with I'm this horrible autofill support climate.

Life's hard. I'm trying to learn how to ADC recently to understand their ways, but I play like only MF so it's kinda hard not to want to poke with Q. :(

Kaioko12/2/2016, 7:29:02 PM1 votes

You learn what's going to happen based on who you're supporting and whose on the enemy team. For example, if you've got a late game hypercarry that chose warlord's as their mastery and the enemy has an aggressive jungler - they're probably not wrong to not want to engage.

Communication from the time you pick your support is key. Ask the ADC what kind of playstyle they want to have - aggressive, peel, sustain and then you pick accordingly. If your adc is getting a bunch of poke but is someone like Vayne, Jinx, Ashe; having a support like Nami or Soraka fixes all the issues.

You're in control of how bottom lane goes early. Realize that a lot of times an ADC without items is essentially useless and will deal hardly any damage.

I'd say let them die. If they want to complain, let them. They should learn the hard way.

Tbh, in the beginning the Support harasses while the adc farms. If the support can set up a possible kill, that is when the adc is supposed to engage.. After the support does.
