Rito, I appreciate ur attempt at transparency regarding queue times, but you are still not being honest with players. When I queue for ranked it says that queue times are 20% longer for mid lane. So for instance this would mean if my expected queue time is 3 minutes I should expected to wait 3x1.2=4 minutes for a game. Not the typical 12-15 minutes I usually encounter. Similarly when picking support it says 20% shorter queue time which would mean expected wait of 3x.8=2.4 minutes. Not the typical 15-20 seconds.

Be realistic rito how many possible queue combinations are there? I'm no combinatorist but I believe there are 5*4+1=21 possible combinations of role selections for dynamic queue. You have millions, possibly billions of data points to points to give very close to actual expected queue times not the glorified feel good estimates you are currently giving.

I mean they use a mathematical formula to predict queue time. Then you get a number. Now, people are constantly joining and leaving the queue across various ELIs so the system trying to match you is constantly resettling. Say you're s3, and you're queuing, it's trying to find a suitable, balanced match. Suddenly, the S4 top laner queued it wanted drops, so now it's looking for a new top but the aggregate rank is changed, so now it may be forced to shuffle players around that it had planned to keep the match even.

Sometimes queue times are short, sometimes they can be longish. But don't blame riot for getting it wrong. They definitely try. I've found that any timer that bits 3 minutes just leave queue and rejoin. It works wonders, trust me.

they use an average to predict queue times for a clearly non unimodal distribution. an average in this case is a very poor representation of actual expectations. the math they use is infantile at best. There is enough data in a single week, likely a single day, to get accurate predictions across all combinations to get, i would estimate, a margin of error of less than 20 seconds. as much money is made i would expect they have an analyst who could do these predictions, and establish a "formula" for lack of a better word, in less than a days work.
