100% damage reduction?

So im not so good at the math of league so i need some help. If i get 234 armor and magic resist (70% reduction) on garen and use his w which reduces damage by 30%, does that mean he is getting 100% damage reduction or are there diminishing returns im not thinking of? Obviously getting that much armor and magic resist wouldnt be feasible but its possible. Just theorycrafting.

Edit: also this doesnt calculate in enemy true damage, magic pen and armor pen which most if not all enemys will have.

They would effectively apply multiplicatively. So he'd take 1.0 x 0.3 (70% reduction) x 0.7 (30% reduction) = 0.21 (79% reduction)

Edit: stupid asterisks turning into italics...

Think of it more in terms of effective health. All sources of damage reduction increase the EHP by the reciprocal of the damage rate. So in Garen's case, the multiplier would be 1/0.7 or slightly less than 50% more EHP. It's be the same thing as if you magically had 50% more health and 50% more regen and % health damage didn't scale up with the increase but took 50% more true damage

You also aren't taking into account armor penetration as well as damage enhancing modifiers such as Vlad's Ult.

3.940201e+115 = Most likely the game would crash but if you get this much digits of defensive stats you will have 100% dmg reduction. Also, it is impossible (see 1/x), it never reaches 100 and the game will crash way before that.item 3632
