Some Thoughts on Vision, Following a Loss
Just had a ranked game as Bard, in Silver; I have a 63% winrate with him. I just realized something disturbing. It's about warding.
I was trying to decide why me and a duo that I just played with had lost our last game, as I felt that my gameplay had been very typical - I don't think I played any worse than normal. But I personally did quite awful in the game, and our team lost despite no one else obviously doing poorly.
I got caught out a lot. I went 0/8/4. Really bad. So I'm digging through the Match History, trying to learn something to improve myself, and I noticed the difference in warding from the two teams. The warding was 68-84, with me supplying 23 of the wards, and my Lee Sin providing 20. Mind you this was a 35 minute game. The other three players stuck to Yellow trinket.
Well the story doesn't stop there.
I decided, because I'm an obsessive nerd, that I would look up the WardScore of all the players in the game. Here's what I found (mine in bold):
My team: 520/583/605/749/1547
Theirs: 513/1245/907/928/1090
Again, being obsessive, I decided to check the people on my friend's list that I would potentially be duoing with, to see if the situation was any better. It was not. The average of 18 players was 895, with a low of 443 and a high of 1055 (okay, yeah that's actually a bit better).
So... this being an atypical post, I'm going to identify the cause of us losing that game. It's my fault. I lost us that game, because I played as though we had vision parity, when we were at a vision deficit. I played as though my teammates knew anything about vision, which they didn't. I threw that game.
By the way, if you've read this far, are in Silver, don't main support, and have a ward score over 1000, please add me in game.
