General tips for someone trying to improve but currently sucks

Hello all,

I am a low bronze player and have many friends that say I have the intelligence of being at least high silver to low gold. Many of the games I play feel almost out of my control and it seems like no matter how well I play, the game is still just a 50-50 shot due to the inconsistency of teams. It feels like most games are decided in champ select not by the champion picked but by the player behind them. I always try to play for the team (if people are autofilled support I will offer to play for them or things like that) but it seems like no matter what I do, I will be stuck bronze forever. I am really only "good" at playing thresh because I have been since I started the game and I know how to ward and who to hook and when to save abilities and general things like that but it seems almost impossible to carry as a support that isn't brand or zyra. I have started to try to play top lane and just scale into late game as kennen or aatrox or karthus but whenever this happens my team never makes it to the late game.

If anyone has any basic tips or any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it!

First, establish a champ pool and a main role. Champ pool consisting of champs you like but also have different strengths/weaknesses to fit multiple situations. Second, figure out what specifically each champ does and their builds while also finding certain mechanics that are specific to them. Jarvan eq then flash for example. Next, practice this champ in practice tool and work on csing or clearing jungle with them while also practicing these specific mechanics on dummys. Next, play them in normal games and test your ability against real players. Finally, start playing them in ranked while also researching ways you can get better at the overall game and figure out how the meta is shifting so you can shift your champ pool. Playing for late or early or mid game doesn't matter none of them are better than the other what matters is how good you are at it. Most importantly, keep working and take all forms of criticism and research for yourself. Even if someone is being toxic they will ususally have a point, the raging nonsensical monkeys aren't as prevalent as Riot would have you believe. I salute you for looking for legitimate means of improving, I wish more players would be actively looking to improve instead of stagnating in their elo then complaining.

i been there. for a long time. and i feel u. but from some point i decided to improve and currently i am plat 2 hopefully going for diamond. now when i play on my smurf in bronze/silver elo i almost dont lose at all . The most important mistakes that comes into my mind right now in that elo is: 1.people dont farm good they miss alot CS . 2. They dont know how matchup works and they just play safe and wait for jungler or wait for blitz hook or somthing and they really dont know when they should play safe and when they should punish people and play aggresive . 3. they dont use their abilities currectly. 4. they dont even take the right runes or build the right items. 5. they chat alot . which tilts themselves and others in team and they lose focus. 6. THE MOST IMPORTANT one is They dont know WHAT TO DO When they have a lead and they are ahead. they dont know what to do.thats why when a smurf plays in that elo he knows what to do and tell his team too and they do it and he wins. u should know that in that elo no body knows what to do after laning phase they just go mid and play like ARAM. u need to watch and see what u actually need to do after lanning phase with ur lead to carry ur team how to shotcall currectly. Usually after like gold/plat elo everybody knows the mechanics . every body know how to play they lane . but THe big diffrence u see between plat/diamond/master/challenger players is Decision making. When back ? When push ? When reset ? When fight ? When use it? When save it ? Who to focus? and etc ... i hope i helped.

You've got almost every champ in the game played at least once this season. Find what you like and focus on becoming better at it. If you're not having an easy time abusing bronze players in lane, then you still have alot of ground to get better at things like auto spacing, animation canceling, and probably generally landing your abilities. Without more information on exactly what you're trying to improve on there's not really much specific information I can give you. But practice the mechanics your champs use in low stress environments like bot games or practice tool, focus on improving your CS, and remember to check your mini map as often as you can manage. Comfort with the mechanics of the champion you're playing generally improves map awareness because you don't have to think as much about what you're doing. Things like being able to read the map better comes from time in experience, I.E being able to see the jungler pop up somewhere on map and getting a clear idea of what he's cleared and where he'll be next from his CS count. When you've decided on a champ and playstyle, find someone on youtube that is challenger at it and emulate them.

Rest is all repetition.
