A Change That Kled Desperately Needs

As a Kled main (if you saw my match history you would think I were a Kled one trick), I've played many matchups that feel like they can be unfavorable, but one of the most infuriating things that seems to happen so darn constantly while I'm playing Kled is the dismount/remount mechanic. You see, the idea is that once Skaarl runs out of enough "hp" (she's supposed to be immortal, so I always thought of it as Courage instead), she kicks Kled off of the saddle and runs for the high hills. She supposedly sticks close by and just watches until she is inspired by Kled's courage. Once the courage meter is full, she will return to Kled and allow him to remount, gaining back up to 80% of Skaarl's courage (based on level). The whole idea behind Kled seems to be "go in, don't be a wuss." However, there are many instances where I have gotten 100% of the courage meter filled, and Skaarl just takes too long to return to me. I did exactly what I was intended to do, and instead of being rewarded for it, I just die after having false hopes shattered. I've been playing Kled very often since his release almost 3 years ago, so I know that Skaarl's return time used to be longer and that Kled not remounting was a common issue, but I wonder why it hasn't been given the same treatment as being dismounted.

You see, when Kled is dismounted, he becomes briefly untargetable so he can still have a chance to fight back after being dismounted. Considering how little health he actually has (especially early game), this is clearly meant to prevent him from being blown up or one shot: he isn't designed to die immediately. However, like I said, when Kled remounts, he can still be killed before Skaarl returns to him. My problem with this is that Kled still has to sit through an animation before he can continue attacking. At the most he is able to move during this animation, though as soon as it ends he can return to doing whatever it is he was doing. My suggestion is that Kled be made untargetable while remounting just like when he is being dismounted. That way when Kled gets the full courage meter filled up, he still gets to use the actual reward of it instead of just dying for no reason. Are there any thoughts on this?

Edit: Just to clarify, when I say untargetable during the remount, I mean solely for the animation of the remount. He already has autoattack animations interrupted for it, so just don't let him attack during the animation either. I feel that is a fair change to make.

On the one hand, I see what you mean by wanting to actually get your reward for building courage. On the other hand, I feel like there are times where you could just be utterly stupid at the last second to fill your courage (like flashing into the enemy team) just because you know you're going to be invulnerable while you remount. You mentioned you don't like him just dying for no reason, but there is a sense of counter-play in trying to burst him down before he remounts, as remounting is a very strong tool in his kit. All in all, kind of neutral on the idea. If he needs a buff somewhere down the road, it would be worth considering IMO.

It'd be better to let him activate his W on command. Yeah it's a buff to a different area, but giving the champion with the highest health and highest base heal additional untargetability wouldn't be fair.

No, makes Kled too frustrating to play against. Especially in lane it is too easy to remount for that to be a thing.

What kled needs are: A) straight buffs. More Q dmg early or late, reduce the time it takes to pull people back by rank, better scaling on W. SOMETHING. Such a piss poor lanebully that loses lane to lanebullies and gets outscaled. Ever since riot destroyed conq kled fell off a cliff because all he has is flat physical dmg and nothing else. The % value on his last W isn't even worth talking about.

B) FIX HIS DAMN BUGS FOR FUCK SAKE. Every single game i die at least once or lose a kill because this fuckin champion just doesn't work. Q just goes through the enemy. W goes off as a normal AA that either does no dmg or the normal AA dmg value. Dismounted Q deals no dmg AND gives no courage in straight melee range sometimes when it should give the full value since all pellets hit but instead just goes through the enemy.

His second E sometimes just goes on cooldown without using it, sometimes you follow enemies over terrain sometimes you are stuck in the terrain and can't go over it. Make it consistent, e.g. he can use his E to go over terrain like every other fuckin dash in the game or he can't do it at all. As it is it's fuckin whacky and annoying actually. His second E not working in the intented direction.

Should i start with his ult bugs? Lock on to the enemy sometimes works sometimes it doesn't. You CLEARLY ult away from people and he still bumps into the one chasing him when you use it as a disengage tool meaning instead of running away you go into them despite me pressing THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OF THE ENEMY. His ult paths, holy shit. Like not even talking about autopathing being shit and actually taking a longer route, atleast you end up at your destination. No no you have the path visible on the ground he will take and suddenly he makes a turn and takes another path (happens mostly in the jungle where there are a lot of obstacles to go around). And my most favorite, kled ults into the opposite direction you pressed. Man what a feeling wanting to charge into the enemy and instead he goes backwards which happens mostly when you ult in melee range or very short ranges to use it as a simply CC tool so you can for example stop darius from ulting or stop camille dash etc. etc.

Oh and something that also should be brought in line to be consistent is his dismounted movement speed. Towards enemies you have high MS, away you are a snail. So far so good. Sometimes you run with full value at the enemy, sometimes you basically charge up the movement speed until you get the full value. So many kills that run away because you don't get the MS boost immediately despite being in range. Idk if it's his range that is just whacky so basically when enemies are close to being or being closely out of range of the MS boost it starts getting whacky idk but it should get fixed. It feels so shit to Q back to get courage and create some space until for example your W comes off cooldown to trying to run to the enemy but you don't get the MS boost and he can just walk away.

Do all that (the bug fixes) and kled alone is already a better champion. So far it sucks to play this champion. I love him but whenever i play one game and get a bug that annoys me it's the last game of the day and i just don't want to continue playing him. And it is an utter disgrace riot ignores a functioning non VGU listed champion being bugged to hell and because of it probably very unpopular instead of fixing it. Nono we have to like bugfix kai'sa bewbs being a particle smaller than supposed to be. She makes money after all. Kled is unpopular so fuck that champion. Competitive Esports game btw where champions sometimes work and sometimes they don't.

TL;DR: Don't do what op said. Instead give him buffs to either his early game (preferable) or his lategame AND FIX HIS FUCKIN BUGS. MAKE HIM A PLAYABLE CHAMPION FOR CHRISTS SAKE AND DON'T LET HIM ROT RIOT.

You are regaining the largest amount of hp in the game. Why should you also be untargetable? :/

While I’m pretty sure Riot made the remounting-vunerability thing a purposeful choice I see your point, it sucks to see that you could play un-mounted Kled well enough to build barely Skarl’s courage, only to die as the animation starts and I do think cutting out that frustration would make him a better champion, however i think he’d need a small compensation nerf to the amount of Skarl’s health he gets back for remounting in exchange (nothing big, maybe like 5-10% less at all levels)
