DO NOT play ranked if you have a ff@15 mindset

Unless you are down like 8 towers and getting snowballed worse than TL vs G2 in a 20-3 game where you have no late-scaling whatsoever, stop throwing surrender votes like a god damn child every chance you get off cooldown. If a player does not have the mentality to try their best in EACH game they play, anything less is equivalent to trolling. It really is. If I'm not trying my best and rather move "onto the next one" and you're in your promos, how would you feel? Would you like to needlessly grind through more games and pray the 50% statistic favors you this time around, or maybe play a little smarter, get more organized, and find a way to turtle for some 8 more minutes for a chance to win?

Granted the fault lies heavily on whoever thought early forfeiting was a good idea. At least not without its limits. I didn't have to grind like 800 games to hit plat seasons back; it took about 90 to go from silver 4 to plat 5. Why? Believe me there were a LOT of games most would've thought unwinnable but proven otherwise.

Just really had it up to here with this quitter mentality. I can somewhat understand if it were a normal game. But then again if you don't bother to learn the art of the great comeback in a normal game now and then because a little bit of extra effort is too much to ask for, then I doubt they're gonna pull it off in ranked. If you don't have the capacity to learn from your mistakes or adapt (there will be a lot of games where you can't always match the cs of your opponent, it's fine), then please for fuck's sake don't queue up for ranked. Take a good damn look at yourself and improve in norms first. Where I won't report your AFK-sitting-in-base ass and spam Riot Support to suspend your account for your crappy attitude in the game that actually somewhat matters.

Oh, no, I love to drag out a game that is clearly decided in the first 10 minutes to 30 or 40 (depending on how much the enemy team wants to play with its food before killing it) minutes.

Lets be real, this game is so poorly balanced at this point that most games are decided at champ select or 5 minutes after, depending on which team gets the snowball rolling first.

#DO NOT play ranked if you have a 3-20 "Never Surrender!" mindset

If you have less than 4 kills for every one they have, and are already guarding an inhibitor turret, stop throwing no votes like you’re goddamned immortal. If a player does not have the mentality to try to enjoy each match they play, why would they be playing a video game? Now if I'm not trying my best and rather move "onto the next one" and you're in your promos, feel free to put me in my place. On the other hand, would you like to subject 4 other players to miserably grinding through another half hour to get some imaginary points in a game? If you’re only getting 50% WR, maybe you don’t deserve that next rank yet. Or maybe you should be watching more vods, get your champion pool and strategies in order, and find a ways to actually deserve your rank rather than praying you’ll luck your way into a higher rank.

Granted the fault lies heavily on whoever thought giving amateur players the notion that they’re actually participating in the esport they see the pros playing. At least to some extent. I didn't have to be 100% meta a few seasons back, it took about 20 minutes to come up with a semi-viable and fun build. Why? The designers and the players both understood the difference between pro and amateur play.

Just really had it up to here with this “Never Surrender!” mentality. I can somewhat understand if there was actual money on the line. But then again if you don't bother to learn how to chill out in normals, then I guess expecting you to resist Pavlovian urges and actually enjoy and learn the game is a bit much. If you don't have the capacity to take a chill pill, learn from mistakes, and adapt (there will be a lot of games where you just won’t win, it’s fine), then please don’t queue up for a multiplayer game where you can hold others hostage. Take a good damn look at yourself and improve your attitude in a singleplayer game first. Where you won’t be ruining the evenings of dozens of people a day because you’re raging in chat, queueing on tilt, and holding people with less free-time hostage.

Yeah at least half of my wins are comebacks. "Giving up" is literally a report option in League, there is no excuse for playing if you don't intend to play it out.

I would argue that Surrender should only be employed for one of three reasons:

  1. when the enemy is winning but wont end it, or are toying with you.
  2. if your team comp are really good on holding on defense but bad at pushing, & could never win the matchup
  3. you have an extremely toxic/afk/trollish teamate who is stalling the game or throwing the game.

quitting early is bad sportsmanship and actually robs your opponents of good scores and the tangible benefits like chests that they earned by outplaying you.

I don't know, there's some games that are clearly not able to be won where I would just prefer to move on to the next game. As a support main, I have a pretty good idea of how late game is going to look. My adc constantly targeting the enemy leona in just our lane trades is a good indicator of what's going to happen during team fights; which is pretty accurate in silver/bronze if you remember being there. She hits Leona in lane, she hits Volibear in team fights, and then front lines because reasons.

That game isn't winnable if your adc/carry is always dead, nor do I believe honestly that anyone should have to sit there for 40 minutes to slowly lose the game via slow push because the enemies will not win, want to farm, or do other random things instead of shoving down our towers. Raoul does kind of have a point, in bronze/silver games are lost/won in champ select. Enemy team picks Jax, Nasus/Yi, Yasuo/Zed/Fizz, Vayne/Draven, Naut. While your team bans Yuumi, Blitz, Rene, Vi, and something else random instead of banning things that are a problem/people don't know how to deal with at this elo.

Now the question is after that how I personally feel about myself. I feel confident enough to win the next few games where I don't mind losing one at 15 instead of sitting there for 40 minutes with the same result. Sure, we /could/ win but at that point that requires the enemy team to mess up so badly late game where the death timers are super long. The thing is, is it worth it? Does the team as a whole want to sit there for 40 minutes saying a hail mary for the enemy team to make a mistake and throw because your team cannot win team fights? Or are you the type of person that keeps saying no when 3 of your teammates are done?

Honestly, no. I don't want to sit there for 40 minutes of my life and wait for a mistake when I could just move on and win the next game. I'm not great at this game, but I'm confident enough in my own personal game play to shrug with the knowledge that I will go on a win streak, and might win the next game. You also aren't thinking about the people that only have a few hours each night to play and don't want to sit in a single game for almost an hour waiting for the enemy team to throw or to slow lose. I do also believe the surrender vote should go through if 3 out of the 5 teammates want to surrender because that's the majority and that's what counts.

It's a team game, and if the team decides as a group they want to surrender then so be it. No one has the right to hold anyone hostage in a game. Plus I've found that two people holding the game hostage tends to make the other teammates go afk, throw, wander off into the jungle to be picked off, etc just so they can get out of the match.

Respect your teammates wishes, and stop trying to berate people for not wanting to throw away their time.

I don't have a ff@15 mindset. My mindset is, I observe how my allies play the game, what runes they have, what items they purchase, and how they handle a bad situation. If they know how to staunch the bleeding after handing the enemy a couple early kills, great. First blood isn't a guaranteed win; in fact, it sometimes makes enemies cocky into making bad decisions.

I forfeit when a combination of the following occurs.

Top/Mid Lane dies every two minutes or less. Jungle does not or cannot help apply pressure and/or camps losing lanes (usually away from drake). ADC cannot CS or Kite. ADC prefers engaging a tank over the squishy carry, mis-calculating the HP and defense differential between the two with the mindset of "The tank is at less than half health, it's easier to kill than a full HP ADC." Spoiler alert: It Isn't! On the off chance I am not supporting, the support is super aggressive and is likely causing themselves and/or their ADC to die without allowing their ADC a chance to farm up. Jungle has tunnel vision on camps and never bothers themselves with assisting lanes regardless of how easy it is for them to secure kills (I pick CC champs to make jungle life easy, but I still roll idiots in my comps).

There are more, but these are the examples that immediately come to mind that inform me that I am on the losing side and that there is nothing I can do to change it. Because players have this mode and for some of them it is a temporary mode and for others it is a permanent mode. A mode in which they do nearly everything if not absolutely everything incorrectly. For the ones who are permanently stuck in that mode, whatever wins they get are a result of them being carried. As for the temp cases, it's likely because they are either tilted from loss streaks, overconfident from win streaks, or they're binge-playing league and they're so physically and mentally exhausted that they are no longer in a condition to perform well.

A fresh start is sometimes needed to make things right. Being stuck in a clearly lost match because of the "Never give up, never surrender" types just means I am having my time and energy wasted and my mental state is being further subjected to toxic bullshit!

*sees responses And then you wonder why ranked has gotten more frustrating over the years.
