Lets talk Vlad's rework

I have an absolute ton of games on Vladimir, my highest champ mastery is vladimir, I know him inside and out in his pre-reworked state. And I'm really failing to see how this rework is positive.

Base stats. health gets an overall buff, and +4 ad makes last hitting easier.

Passive. Passive is shifted towards gaining more AP than health. the AP>health aspect was hit by a 40% nerf. Your passive will now give you 40% less health than it did prior to the rework. Now this wouldn't be an issue, but it stacks ontop of 2 other things, E changes (removal of crimson tides buff) and removal of spellvamp on a viable item for vlad (the removal of these 2 things are a consistant issue throughout the rework).

Base Q damage is nerfed, empowered is buffed. All in all, it breaks just about even in a vacuum. However this isn't a vacuum. This is a dynamic game that's full of players who can observer when a bar below their opponent's health is glowing red. CD is up a full second at level 5,

His W has been flat nerfed. I can't say i understand why, it was never a problem area in his kit, and vlad's damage lost almost all of its consistency.

E. Fuckall damage on the base cast, costs 10% of your health after 2 seconds, that can be blocked by creeps, that can be interrupted. I do understand that the scaling is extremely potent on this ability, but there is outright too much counterplay involved in this skill. You have 2 full seconds to get behind a minion or out of range of this skill. Another thing, removal of the past e passive that increased health regen, by removing this, there's just a massive reduction is health regeneration through Q and, the now removed, spellvamp.

R. Hemoplague is a nerf. Outright a nerf. 1 second less damage amp, and then you've got some huge burst healing. Less healing than you'd have if you had spellvamp and 4 stacks of Crimson tide.

Itemization is an overall buff to clarity , damage, and feels better, but is overall the removal of spellvamp nerfs his kit to the point where I say the itemization is far, far worse (even with this current kit). with spellvamp removed, we now have a clear buildpath that

TL;DR. Our overall bulk is slightly smaller, we've lost our sustained healing through removal of stacking E buff and spellvamp, our poke has been reduced massively in lane by gating all our major damage behind EXTREMELY high windows of counterplay. On the otherhand, we're far more bursty when playing in favorable conditions, and our healing has been condensed into burst healing. Item

I am NOT a fan of this rework. I play Vladimir because he was a sustained damage midliner who would just sustain and do consistent, stable damage over time in fights if he wasn't bursted. This reworked kit is a burst mage's kit with some heals.

Don't get me wrong, I like the kit, it seems fun, but this isn't why any vladimir player plays vladimir. We're playing him because we want a relatively uninteractive farming mage who can stat check people. Vladimir is along the lines of Nasus who traded damage for range and extra sustain in his pre-rework state. you can easily kill him early, you cant later. High levels of mechanics and positioning never came into play, and I if farmed and stayed in the perfect range during trades and fights, that I'd be able to do my job.

The issue with his current kit, that's really not adressed here, is that you need to know how to play against vladimir or you'll just get screwed over. Now, you've swung too far the other direction, by really making him feast or famine depending on how the opponent plays. You've raised his skillcap, nerfed his regneration, given him exponentially higher counterplay, and haven't given him anything in return.

This just feels bad. He'll be like Illaoi. Incredibly strong until people know how to play against him, at which point he's useless.

If they didn't nerf the heal ratio, he'd be fine.

There's almost no point in focusing on AP now. Rylai's, deathcap, tank(literal tank.). Maybe abyssal or void in some cases.

Also, don't speak for all Vlad players. I didn't play him because I wanted an un-interactive farm mage. I played him because you get shit on in almost every match-up unless you play it extremely well, and then you dominate the game. Its essentially the opposite of Yasuo's goals early game. Deny every little advantage you can, rather than trying to make every little advantage you can count.

I pick him for his optimal teamfight potential, which is effectively never reached because positioning is such a problem for him.

Riot didn't like the Vlad that just stat checked people. Absolutely hated him, really. It's been the basis of their balancing on him for as long as they've understood him.

As for counterplay...well yeah. Any counterplay will feel like too much counterplay when your champ never had any counterplay before.

And you...do realize that you can pop his E anytime before the 2 seconds are up, right? It can be instant cast if you really really want it too.
