Can somebody explain to me how one counters Riven? Picking a certain champion doesn't cut the cheese, especially if you're playing normals and you don't KNOW if a wild Riven will appear.

So tell me, comprehensively how to counter her.

P.S. If a red replied their opinion that would make my day. Especially if they voiced their opinion on Riven.

You try hard not to die to her and let someone else feed her so you can blame them instead of being blamed for Riven being able to 1 shot carries at level 8

I like playing fizz, your just as slippery and can actually dodge some of her shit. Also you can lock her down long enough to dump your damage on her too.

You have to punish her mistakes. If she tries to make a move on you in lane and misses all her abilities, you NEED to go aggressive and abuse that window where she has her cooldowns. Because otherwise it's rinse and repeat over and over until she lands that stun since she has no resource stopping her.

Some champs are good against her. Some aren't. Try to capitalize when she wastes e. Although you still can't do much in that situation.

Play big tanks every game like garen and cho gath, with the number of riven's I see you will probably not be disappointed. If you pick a bad matchup into her blind you will prolly just get rofl stomped.

She gets destroyed by silences. Garen and Cho'gath are the biggest counters I know of for her.

Either that, or champions who can force extended trades after she uses her E to back off. Darius does this well since his grab range is roughly the same range as her E range.

if any champ had some ultra hard counter that totally ensured you would dominate them and zone them out of farming in lane then the game would be kinda stupid. At best there are soft counters. If the person playing riven is much better than you then it shouldnt matter which champ you pick...ok? there should not be a counter to skill. Most champs will be overpowered if fed and they start snowballing. If riven isnt fed i do not see her being broken op shes just a pretty typical brawler type. it can be annoyingly difficult to catch her when she starts running away but frankly thats about all there is special about her.

Just general anti-melee stuff like Darius will destroy Riven. Or pokey champs. Jayce is a PERFECT counter to Riven because he embodies both of those things. He's anti-melee and has great poke. And if you build him the way he's supposed to be built, as a bruiser, then you'll easily be able to skirmish with Riven as well.

Teemo takes away half of Riven's damage because he makes her autoattacks do nothing.

Riven also sucks against control mages, which is why you never see her mid. Syndra and Malzahar absolutely wreck Riven with their range, and have multiple safety nets in case she closes the distance.

The same way you deal with all of those champions that skip and hop all over the damn place while dealing loads of damage, you play a champion with a wealth of hard CC. The easier and more frequent the CC is applied the better.

No matter what lane/role you're playing, make sure the champion you use has hard CC, cannot stress this enough.

Alternatively, you could just play Darius and Garen for easy lane, easy life... for now.
