Serious feedback on Dynamic Queue
Hi all!
First of all english is not my native language, so please don't go hamm on my grammar.
I would like to present my feedback about the new Dynamic Queues and their implication especially for ranked games. So let me give you a little bit of context : I was last season a diamond 4 player, after my placements I've been put in platinium 2. This is important for what follows.
I would like in the first place to highlight what is in my mind one of the most brilliant idea Riot ever had : the ability to lock bans, which should put an end to all of the failed bans on a random champion (because, yeah, banning Yorick instead of Zac isn't something very funny to deal with when zac ends up being in the enemy team)
Furthermore, widening the possibility of taging along with 3 or 4 friends in ranked seems to be a good idea, especially for those like me who do not plan to play with a ranked team for tournament on a daily basis, but would still enjoy to share their ranked games with their friends.
However, the biggest mistake to my taste is the forced implementation of the teambuilder. I'm not here to judge on whether this is going to set the current meta (1/1/2+jungler) in stone or not, because it is extremely hard to build something innovative AND effective with a bunch of strangers in the few minutes we are granted to make our picks. Ranked team are still there to push forward new brilliant ideas. We could argue that this system will become a brake in the eventuallity of a new meta, but this is not the topic either. The true issue is that this system is strongly advantaging those whom pool of played champions only cover one or two lanes, and strongly disaventadge those, like me, who only play up to two champions per lanes, but are able to handle all roles equally. In my case, I master a very tiny pool of champs (let's say 8). Obviously I can play more, but definitly not at the same level of mastery, and I think a large majority of players can relate to this. The point that trully scares me is that 2 of them are toplaners (one being playable midlane), 2 of them are midlaners, 2 are junglers and the last 2 are supports. Which mean that I absolutly can't ask for a lane in advance, and up to now I was always the one filling the set-up. If the 2 champs on my lane get banned, or one banned and the enemy pick a hard counter to the other one, I am either forced to ask for another lane, or I'll be going through a hell of a lane.
So here we are ; I'm given the choice between only playing with a at least 3-men premade in order to be able to swap if things go anwry and giving up my way to play LoL and starting to focus on one or two lane.
I'm definitly positive this was not the idea behind the implementation of Dynamic Queues, and I'm certain aswell that this was not the idea of Riot to restrain the possibilities of experiencing their game.
Anyway, the possibility of choosing your role in advance is in my eyes mostly irrelevant : it is quite improbable (let's say 1 time out of 10) to end up in a queue where nobody can decently play a particular role, and this is exactly what the ability to Qdodge once per day is made for. At my level at least (and this is why I was underlining the fact i'm playing in low diamond^^), it is uncommon to encounter a fight for a role, and tremendously unlikely to be unable to find a satisfying solution for everyone. And thus this teambuilder does much more harm than good.
I have to admit I did not come up with a genius idea to fix this point, so the best so far would be to suspend it until a solution emerges.
Thank you for your attention, and thank you for the upcoming novelties :)
