State of Lux

So I realize I might be hated for this or branded as a "no skill player," but it feels like Lux is in an absolutely horrible state at the moment. I've tried various items builds/runes on her but it really doesn't seem like anything is working. Ever since the item rework I feel like her powerspike has just been absolutely shot down.

Not only is a lot of her early game damage gone -- The old Morello gave way more AP for 300/400 gold less and while I get that archangel's scales to give more and AP in the end it doesn't help her take advantage of the early game before people get MR/Zhonyas/CC removal. The shield once fully stacked is nice but that takes a while and it's really not that needed on a long range mage. Luden's is nice but it's so expensive to build compared to the old Morello's.

You make up 200 gold and the AP on Rabadon, but that's not until a second or third item at best and by then her mid game sniper spike is gone. She can't wave clear and she can't one shot anyone anymore.

I'm not one to like to rely on win rates either but she's currently 39th/41st for mid laners. The only two worse are Zoe (whose getting buffs and is a mess as it is) and Lucian (who definitely needs some love but isn't exactly a mid primary). Anyone have thoughts on how to go about buffing her without making her completely unhealthy?

There was a discussion not long ago about Lux, that even a Red replied to if i remember correctly.

Basically what most people seemed to agree on was to give Lux's E a "charging" mechanic similar to Gragas. Smaller size and damage at first, but the damage and size would ramp up over 2 seconds, dealing more damage than on live when fully charged, but less when exploded early.

Her current harass is too reliable and opressive, such changes would reduce her harass a bit, but the ramping damage would help her waveclear and would combo well when she lands a snare.

Thinking of Lux as a no skill champion is stupid , Lux was always weak like that due to her very long cs abilities that are easy to dodge " yes including E " most of Lux players in High usually can only hit E and spam ult on the tanks , she is still fun to play anyway

To be honest with you, with the AP itemization there isn't a whole of of AP champions with good wave clear. Most are getting shoved by AD like lux so this really isn't a Lux exclusive thing.

lux is in a fantastic spot. the changes to item 3003 and item 3285 are great for her. as well as the situational item 3165 being able to proc grevous wounds without the 33% limit if you have to deal with a team that have lots of heals.

also..both electrocute and and aery work on her byt my fav but far is klepto it is AMAZING on her becuase of her passive. any decent lux player will be doing this anyways

lux is also a fantasic user of item 3504 as a max lvl shield with 45% cdr is less than a 6 second cooldown. and item 3504 shield attack speed boosts lasts 6 seconds

so you can shield your entire team and get a effectively permanent buff as long as they don't dodge it.

lux really donest need buffs, but if she WERE to get them the buff i would give would be to let her control how far out her shield goes.

so if you want a short shield that reutrns fast to protect you from more burst you could do that.. rather than have have it always go the same distance this would be a good thing that a good lux player could play around and would increase her skillcap

my god wtf is with these downvotes.

IM A LVL 7 LUX!!! she is my 3rd most mastery in the game at 142k I LOVE PLAYING HER!!!

just because i like a champion doesn't mean they need "buffs" when they are FINE.

lux has a 50% winrate in EVERY elo below diamond in which she is 48%

her support winrate is MUCH lower. and i play her SUPPORT and i think she is FINE. she is STRONGER mid than she is suport

stop being so freaking baised and asking for buffs when we don't need it. lux is fine.

just becuase i play a champ doesN't mean im going to go. "OH SOMEONE WANTS BUFF FOR IT... BETTER UPVOTE"

when i post about balance I'm trying to make the game BALANCED. we already have enough morons asking for buffs for champs that dont need it. (cough 54% shako winrate asking for a buff LOL)

i prefer to keep my ideas on balance whats good for the GAME. not good for ME otherwise i might be asking for buffs to my main Nidalee

and beleive me i can throw out about 5 buffs off the top of my head i want to give her... and down below gold she DOES need them but they would absolutely break her in higher level play. so i stop asking for them when her winrate became viable.

i even posted the proper way to buff lux if she WAS going to get buffed..

Give E a target area marker, like chogath circle, etc, etc. etc, etc. Thats all it realy needs

I haven't played her much in the last several months, but I started banning her as support because the double root was a nightmare to defend against in bot lane during the early game compared to almost any other CC another support champ might bring, at least when combined with her damage output on top of the root. Combined with it being impossible to avoid all damage from her E, one root was a death sentence, whereas with most CC champs we can survive the first one unless we're badly poked out first. I like the idea of the charge on her E, especially if it means it's small at first, because that would work for a mid-lane Lux while making her less of a nightmare as support.

Question, though: her passive AA after ability damage is supposed to be intrinsic to her kit. Is it still as reasonable to land those AAs or are they less of a factor now? When I played her a long, long time ago, I used to get in a lot of AAs, but now when I try to play her it seems like trying to take advantage of that invariably asks me to walk into a death trap. If that bonus damage is harder to pull off, that might be something which needs looking at as well.
