If fizz is going to be changed please listen to this.
Fizz has been confirmed for a "rework" after mid season, I even think they've already started it considering the bio changes.
I gotta say, it has been a long time since I started begging for a rework, but I'm both terrified and overjoyed. I believe in the design teams ability to do a damn good job IF they want to do it, but that's only IF they want to give him a proper rework.
The assassin update was never a rework, it was a handicap. I'm not angry over it because I understand their logic and I don't entirely disagree, but I wish they would've done it in a better way.
Back in those days Assassins could kill a squishy champion just by looking at them, and this got abit sillier when you got to Fizz and Leblanc because their kits were so simplistic. Mechanically the champions had a very small skill curve, and what separated the Heroes from the Zeroes was some slightly higher level techniques, maybe abit more general knowledge of the game outside the champion.
So in general the class of champion was capable of pooping on squishies, and in that era of the game you could easily solo carry games. Naturally, this caused abit of a problem. The update comes, and assassins get nerfed. For your more complex champions like Zed or Ekko they simply got toned down a tad, but for champions like Leblanc and Fizz there needed to be HARD handicaps put in place to forcibly add more counterplay.
It's pretty shit, but Fizz they forced him to engage from a distance to allow people a legitimate opportunity to dodge the shark, otherwise it was always your classic melee range ult. Then they added in the W timer to further the time opponents had to play around him.
These changes were stacked ontop of the many design flaws fizz had as an outdated champion, but at the time it would've been acceptable as a temporary fix. Issue is that it didn't stay that way and various more massive changes around him were on the way.
The mage and marksman updates simply made the class that assassins were meant to counter significantly stronger. Alot of defensive items got added over the years, both during these updates and in smaller patches, and just made that worse. Runes reforged was yet another big change that affected him alot. Additions like Summon Aery and Comet just made his laning phase even more painful than it already was, and things like Nullifying Orb and Stopwatch helped to shut down his all ins early game and mid game respectively. Combine that with matchups that were already both hard to kill and impossible to lane against like Orianna, and fizz just always remained a frustrating champion to play.
One of the underlying issues that makes fizz hard to balance, hard to change, and frustrating for both people to play with him AND against him, is his outdated kit. Originally I had gone on a mini rants for each piece of his kit, but unfortunately I turned off the PC thinking Chrome would save what I had drafted so far. You should be able to guess how that went.
I consider myself very passionate about Fizz, but unfortunately I'm not retyping that entire god damn thing.
The thing I'm trying to say is: Don't continue to expand on a bad design. Don't try to improve on it, tack onto it, nothing. Fizz as he currently is, even as he was before, needs to die off. No matter what you do it'll either end up as complete garbage for the player playing him, or the people playing against him.
if you're finally going to sit down for an actual rework then just scrap his kit and make something from scratch. Fizz is not like poppy, or yorick, or any of the other reworks done. Nothing about his current kit, or even playstyle for the matter should remain. The concept of a mobility focused melee assassin is fine, but that's it, nothing more than the concept.
His E causes massive problems with how the rest of his kit is designed and balanced. His R and the whole "Engage from a range" causes poor synergy with the idea of fizz to begin with. A mobile assassin who's pigeon holed into hitting a skill shot and running at his opponent in a linear fashion.
The Passive shouldn't even require an explanation. A worse version of old Dorans shield or Bone plating that was designed as a laning phase only passive in an era where auto attacks mattered more.
The main reason why I have to ask for this is because meddler is about to screw me, and the entire fizz community over. When he announced the rework he clearly stated how he likes the current design of fizz's ultimate. Either they want to keep that but redesign the rest of his kit around that (Wishful thinking), or he refuses to acknowledge any of his problems (the likely case).
Even if by a miracle the former is what they intended to do from the start, that's a horrible idea. Zoe already fulfills that playstyle/role, but she was designed for it. She does it 1000x better than fizz ever could. Why would you make 2 similar champions? Especially when Fizz's original theme as a character has nothing to do with that playstyle.
I am just begging you guys over at the design team, or infact whoever is in charge of fizz. Just do it properly. Rework this champion and scrap the current kit.
I'm going to leave it off there, but I'm going to clarify something before I post this. None of what I said has anything to do with Fizz being "Weak". It's all about why Fizz is just a bad champion. You can win, but nothing about it is good. It's frustrating for the people playing him, it's frustrating to the people playing against him if he's winning. He feels like complete ass to play in Modern LoL.
As such I don't care about him getting a buff, or a nerf, what I want is a better kit.
You're no longer even an assassin in higher elo. For the most part you're often sidelined into a engage support for your team.
If you want proof, rather than me going on an entirely different rant to get the point across, go ask/watch Bjergsen, Shiphtur, any mid laner. Nothing changes. The problems all still exist regardless of if they can get him to work.
