Anything change i'm not aware of?

Do you get more xp than usual for kills? was laning against a ryze as anivia. I was ahead by 20 cs but he got a solo kill on me level 9. He immediately backed and came back to lane as level 10. I was still level 9, after one wave, he then hit level 11 and I wasn't even halfway to 10. This has happened a few times whenever someone gets first blood on me or vice versa.
