Champion select reform.

I'm not certain entirely whether this belongs under Gameplay or Player behavior, as the thought is brought on by both, but I'm pretty sure it's closer to a gameplay matter. Pre-game: you just got Zoe , but nobody wants to play against her because... for whatever reason... they think she's absolutely item 2421 . Maybe she is, Maybe she isn't. Doesn't matter. You get into champ select and your teammate bans Zoe . ..............................................................................[slayer-jinx-unamused] Every match.[slayer-jinx-unamused] .............................................................................. You could go into blind pick, but your Potato PC and Potato Interwebs can't keep up with your MMR, so you'd need a premade group to get your lane in blind pick.

Not Everybody runs a potato though, but we frequently still run into the problem of having... our hovered champion..... banned. We've been over this. I've looked over the forums and it seems more people dislike the idea of making hovered champions unbannable than like it. On the other token though, people also seem to dislike the idea that Trundle s can just get away with banning your champ just for the sake of triggering you... they want you to go full Teemo just so that they can get a good laugh when the tribunal penalizes you.

I know what you're thinking. I'm probably just mad because I got banned after yelling at LeeSin for accidentally banning my champion. -I have never been banned, and the only times I've been penalized by the system were for paying too much attention to my soup when I was in que... -Sometimes it was tea. -Or other... assorted foodstuffs. -It was like three times in 4 years. -And then the time i got really bad internet problems, dc'd, tested after to be sure it was ok again and then dc'd a few matches later. I got a time penalty and went to play something that didn't take internet.

But, I've Draven REFORMEDDraven , and I no longer Brand soup in que.

I know what you're thinking. "But, Sir, what is the secret to fewer trolls that you keep beating around the bush about?" Well, if you'll just buy my revolutionary new guide to troll deletion today, you can find out for no less than $19.99! -just kidding. OK, so here's the deal. we make it so that banning a champion.... wait for it.... Wait for it... only bans the champion for the enemy team. "But sir, that's too simple! There's no way that could work! It will. Here's why: -First off, with the current banning system, you have the option to ban nobody. That's okay. sometimes it's better not to risk banning your own teammates' secondaries. -There is also the chance that you get a double ban... that does nothing. absolutely nothing. nobody gets to play the champion and nobody was going to play the champion anyway. it's not just one wasted ban, it's two.... and that's just the best case scenario, where one or both of the players banning that champion were doing so without a teammate wanting to play it. -if bans only apply to the opposing team, then you don't have to worry that your teammates will ban your main or secondary options, or whatever champion you're attempting to practice. -if bans only apply to the opposing team, then the banning system will be massively less oppressive in general. We frequently run into situations with champions having a 80%+ ban rate, which can be described as nothing but oppressive. -one-sided bans also open up the option to ban your own secondary or primary champions, which can be very useful in instances in which your main champions counter one another, and should help open up a whole new level of thought that might go into champion banning. -double bans with this system would generate the same effect that a single ban currently generates. -while such a setup might remove the need for a "no ban" option, I believe that we could still keep it, in the spirit of ambiguity and anonymity between enemies during champion select. After all, once zoe settles in you don't want people to be able to predict your malzahar pick just because of the zoe ban. (or... whatever... you get the point. right?) -You don't have to deal with a Rammus rollin' it down mid every game that you ban a champion.

-"But, Sir! I'm still having trouble banning all the champions that make my life hell, and this new proposal would cut the enemy team's unavailable champions by half!"

-I understand this, but fact of the matter is, there are 138 champions, and at the bare minimum, 20% of them should be innately more powerful than yours, before your team gives them a kill, doesn't ping mia 3 times and doesn't ward... and then yells at you for getting caught out under t2 tower with 80% hp while t1 is alive still. -thing is, even if we gave everyone 5 bans and let everyone's bans hit both sides.... you'd probably still get stuck against a champion you hate to fight. We don't need more bans. We don't need fewer bans. We need better bans. -We need to be able to play who we know without worrying about the other team getting them just because we're last pick. -We need to be able to ban our main's counters and still be able to play champions we know if our main gets banned. -We need the power of Selective Banning. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------CREDITS------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Analogous Champion: Zoe. Cook: Brand. Emojis: Jinx, Pantheon. Troll-King: Trundle Int Feeders: Rammus Toxic players: Teemo Blind Person: Lee Sin.

Actually banning only for the enemy team can be quite good, and also quite bad, I just get this feeling...
