Is zyra a good mid champion?
I recently bought Zyra as a support but she seems like she could be decent mid as well. Is that viable right now and if so, who would she be good/bad against?

no, she has the lowest base health in the game, with no escape. Put those two together and you get ez kill.s
Riot tried nerfing Zyra out of mid, they did it with Soraka, Sona, Lulu, Morgana, Nami, you name it. If Zyra sees play mid again, they'll just nerf her harder. Why? Because "We don't enforce the meta"
Strong laner but WAY too easy to gank.
good poke with Q + double seed combo. good wave clear. great follow up with R, it commands a flash/escape or they have to take the knockup.
super low mobility. easy to get ganked. high mana costs in lane.
id rank her a 6/10 overall. assuming leblanc is a 10, evelynn is a 1. (personal opinions here).
Zyra is an awesome mid champ if you are good with her. Not only can you safely farm with plants, but she has the cc necessary to lock down some of the more mobile mid laners so long as you can land it.
Hmmmmm. I love Zyra, but I got to say she doesn't work as well in mid as she should. She has really low resistances, a base health to rival Sona's and her wave clear is mediocre at best.
But as I have seen a few do, she is quite good at bursting people down once you get her some Magic Penetration.
Bad Match ups- Zed (Because Zed) Xerath (Cause she is slow) and Talon (Cuz Talon) Good Match ups- Idek cause I main her support
She can be played mid, sure. But you have to be smart because if you miss your E, then you'll die to every gank.
Zyra has good range and poke. And with some AP behind her ult, she does a lot of damage with great cc.
Well depends, the fact you mentioned buying her to be a support makes me hiss and want to find a Cross to hold you back with, but if you are good with her and positioning in general, she is deceptively strong. items i would suggest would be 
The morello and grail you switch between depend on the circumstances, because the 20% and the 10% from her w put her at 30% and with mastery at 35% with is good to sit at if you want. The rylais and the liandry for her thorn splitters because they are her damage and it gives them a slow and burn. The basic skill order is to max R>Q>W>E.
Ult is obvious, q because its your main damage source and gives thorn spitters, w for more seeds and CD.
Basic gameplay is all about position and harass. Use your Q and spitters to whittle you opponents down, saving e for repositioning or securing kills and basically kite until you have enough damage and ap to burst with your combo.
Lol. When Zyra came out you were supposed to play her mid. Times and met as change though. I definitely think she can absolutely stomp a game with her cc and really huge damage output. If you get fed you will destroy.
she could be played mid, but you have to play it safe, and take flat hp runes so she doesn't die to a all in. and taking
