Dynamic Queue is Devaluing Achievement
The thing that bothers me a lot lately is that dynamic queue boosting devalues the achievements of legitimately good solo players that worked hard to achieve their season goal.
Look, I don't really care if your goal was silver, gold, plat, dia, whatever it is. If someone reaches their goal solo/duo, they should feel proud. If someone plays in a 5 man team of smurfs, however, then they have nothing to be proud of.
I remember desperately wanting gold in Season 3. I felt like Gold was a respectable elo (in retrospect it really isn't, but it seemed like it at the time) and I pushed really hard to get there. I felt like I'd achieved so much after pulling an all-nighter and having an absolute blast tilting an amumu with chogath to clutch the series.
I accidentally queued for a normal game instead of a ranked the other day, and my normal mmr hovers around silver 1 to gold 5/4, and holy bejesus if some of these players were not boosted. For example, their gold 5 adc had 35 cs at 10 vs our silver 3 adc's 75. Imo a quality gold player should be better in every measurable way than a low silver player, but it was pretty clear that two members of their team weren't better, at all. In fact, they were likely worse than our silvers despite being gold.
When I hit plat, I was kind of like "eh that's nice" but there was nothing particularly satisfying about it. This is going to get really Dunning-Kruger, but I don't feel like hitting plat was particularly difficult compared to the first time hitting gold back in old soloq.
I understand that plat isn't particularly good. I see that first hand, believe me. But I feel like a lot of legitimate players' achievement is devalued by all the boosting going on.
The guy that solo/duos his way out of bronze to silver, or silver to gold should feel proud of their climb. But I guess the feeling of achievement is kind of spoiled by all the "legal" boosting that goes on. Just look at the 5 divisions of every tier except for Bronze to see what I mean. There are many players there that do not belong and sit on 0 lp unable to drop out, and only play to avoid decay in plat/dia. When they do play, it's a terrible experience for both teams because such individuals are really below par for their rank.
To summarize, I feel like the ranked ladder has lost a lot of its competitive integrity due to frequent boosting that goes on. Ranks are devalued and their average skill dragged down by boosting.
