Feelings about the Warwick Update
I will now write about the new Warwick.
During my time with league I was always pretty fond of Warwick. In fact it is the champion I made my very first win with. I was aiming to buy him as my first own champion but 3150IP were too much for my patience so it became Nasus instead. Another life stealing fellow with yellow gear (that's important). I had fun games with Warwick hunting enemies so very deep into their territory so fast no one could escape; but escaping myself was no problem as well.
When the update arrived I was thrilled to see what had changed. While the old Warwick was cool he felt a little aged. Easy to use basic skills with not much room for plays. I saw the Champion Spotlight and felt excited, it looked like a well thought through concept. Warwick gets his first gap closer besides his ult which in turn is upped for some serious gameplay, smelling the scent of your prey makes you feel the wolf and some dmg reduction plus a new cc (besides his ult) round up the package.
I started playing him and it felt really good, well done Riot! But there is some bitterness to it though.
I needed some time to adjust to the Q's mechanic holding one button down. I just didn't seem to get in range because it wouldn't fire like I was intending to. It is also a little slower than before, maybe to register the players intent. Passively gaining attack speed is great, but it only works on low health targets and you can't get yourself that boost anymore to get them there. Gotta use my new cc instead for that little edge. The ultimate is impressive. Being able to jump that far really feels great though I'm really missing the suppression's duration. 1.5s is so damn short. You can't lock down enemies reliably, your timing has to be really good. Either you are strong or you got team mates to help you out, otherwise that ult better kill your opponent. Because there is one really nagging issue. Warwick's ult animation seems to be too long. Longer than its actual duration what gives your enemies time to move and act before you are able to.
To be fair I haven't played him a lot yet and I need more time to adjust, but I can say I have to change the playing style. I can't escape that easy any longer, I have to be careful not ending up as prey myself.
All in all is the update really refreshing and feels awesome. I can sense the thrill of the hunt every time I'm on the fields. Now I gotta go for another hunt. Only one thing left to say: "Let's have some fun."
