Whats the point of support?

I'm going to have to stop you right there before you give me the basic answer why a support on your team is helpful. let me elaborate. Based on the general consensus of the supporting role being a anti-fun, underappreciated babysitting position, why is it one of the 5 main roles that is, at this point in time, required to be on the team? i can't even begin to fathom the shear amounts of hate and flame someone would get trying to play i different role as last pick support. kill lanes are generally frowned upon with great impunity in this community. Nobody i know wants to be support. nobody i talk to wants to be a support. the supports on my team are only there because auto fill punched them in the teeth after someone dodged, or where to slow to call anything else. based on my knowledge there is only a small minority of players who main support out of a genuine sense of enjoyment satisfaction and not because they are a bedraggled midlaner accepting their fate because they are tired of being forced into a role they despise. if my knowledge is incorrect, please let me know.

Before anyone says that its just the rantings of a "one lane one champ" noob, know that im am proficient in 3/5 of the roles in this game, those bening , top, mid and jungle. im also a decent hand at adc, if not a bit rusty but i do not support. for me personally, its to boring and way under appreciated. i want kills, gold and maybe a flashy play if im feeling saucy. i don't want to be the walking ward setter, chained to an adc because i cant do anything on my own.

I'm not saying get rid of the support role per-say, im just saying... i don,t know, make it fun and rewarding to a broader player base somehow? or maybe not punish people who want to play this game but get sucker punched into a role they hate and end up dodging? both sound hard to do and im no expert. i just **REALLY **hate that almost everyone has one role they despise with a passion, but have to play it at some point and suffer through an experience that is wholly not fun. Surely there is something that can be done.

No one has fun pulling a baby deer from a burning building only for it to run right back in with no regard to your effort, then blames you for its burn marks.

That logic doesn't apply to every other role how? A top is required, an ADC is required, a mid is required, and a jungler is required so...what?

Because supporting at low elo is actual cancer.

As you go higher in elo, there tend to be more.

i want kills, gold and maybe a flashy play if im feeling saucy. i don't want to be the walking ward setter, chained to an adc because i cant do anything on my own.

And that right there is EXACTLY why you are bad at this game. If you think a support is ONLY there to ward and ONLY meant to be with an ADC, it goes to show that you don't know what supporting truly is.

I don't hate support, support is just the literal worst at elos where players are bad.

I love playing support.

I love playing Sona, it's always been my favorite thing in League.

Right now not as much but, I'm sure she'll get better. So I keep playing because I love her.

And no, before you say, I'm not one of those people that builds full AP. I build utility and items that help me survive to apply that utility.

I love being a support.

I play almost every game as a support, even though i can go every lane (jungle being last option). The reason behind it is if matchmaking is already giving me bs most of the time, i can at least try to influence 2vs2 lane so i can have slightly better options to win. In solo lanes you don't have that control.

Because despite being not very popular its the best tactic to win games consistently.

The consensus you mention only exists among idiots. When I say idiots I mean those that are too ignorant to understand efficient teamwork. I can't exactly say how many players ... but quite a few... and they tend to be very loud, which could lead you to thinking it was a general consensus, but it is really not.

Support developed rather logically.

-Only 3 lanes and jungle give gold -1, or 2 people will need to survive on a budget -Adc are squishy and could use some help, so they can be used to take towers, which was their main job -Adc scale very well off gold for ad/as/crit. And not so much off the stats from leveling or ability increases thereof. -There are champions that have a kit that could aid the team without requiring a lot of gold or experience.

Nowdays supports don't have quite as much of an income problem, and you can play prettymuch any champion in the role if you are good. Just watch Bunnyfufu's youtube channel.
