Karthus idea
Alright, so I've been thinking this over for a little while, and I figured to finally put it out there and see what people think. Right now,
is at around a 1-2% pick rate - source: http://www.lolking.net/champions/karthus#statistics - which is incredibly low. Personally, I've only played him a few times, and it's fairly clear to me why his pick rate is so low. He's surprisingly difficult, as unless you are good at predicting where the enemy is going to go, you are likely going to have trouble hitting his Q, which likely will lead to frustration and not wanting to play
. This is bad, since it means that a few players will play him, likely do bad with him, stop playing him, and tell others interested not to play him. So my idea is this: why not recommend him as a bot laner? Now, I say recommend there because I don't want him to be forced down there. In fact, my hope is that players who are interested in
can eventually bring him mid. However, starting off he's fairly hard, and mid lane is not a forgiving lane, especially with the large number of early-game, high-damage mages/assassins there are (ex.
,
,
, and so on). So learning
mid is likely going to not be very fun. So instead, he could be sent bot lane. I want to be clear here again that I don't wish to force him into bot lane like
was. Rather, I think that he should be recommended as a bot laner for players tyring to learn him. For starters, adc is more farm oriented early on, which is ideal for
considering how annoying it is to try to poke the enemy with your Q. Also, if you have a support with cc, then they can cc the enemy laners, so it's much easier to land Q. Karthus' only cc is his W wall, which can be avoided and even then only slows the target, leaving them open to use gap closers. If you have a support with a heavy slow, knockup, stun, etc, it's much easier to get a Q or two off on the enemy. Finally, since
has no mobility, it's fairly easy to gank him, which furthermore causes frustration and anger. In bot lane, however, you can only be ganked from one side, plus you'll have a support to help ward and protect you from approaching junglers.
So these three reasons combined make up why I personally think that recommending
to go bot for those who are learning him is a decent idea. Tell me what you think in the poll or comments below. Thanks, and GLHF!
