Is there a Counter to AP Udyr or are we in AP YI times again?

As per the title states lately alot of my games personally ive run into Udyrs, but ap udyrs. At first i thought it was a fluke, and as a marksman i tried kite i tried to shutdown his jungle early (lvl 1 reds krugs etc) and even went so far as to set him behind as far as possible. Yet every game AP udyrs are just becoming something of a nostalgia back with yi.

I'm openminded and im pretty sure there has to be a solid way to counter him (besides a ban) and if someone has one by all means, but if not i think either Udyr needs to get looked at, or the items that are allowing him to do so in games need to be looked upon.

It isnt that AP Udyr is super amazing by itself, its that the Runic Echos gives a 10% speed boost and Udyr can 1v1 pretty much every other champ in the game at level 1 cause hes a beast. If he can catch them.

Udyrs only real weakness is that he has to get right on top of you with no gap closers to do anything. Runic Echos makes him do that, any aditional AP items are just to capitalize on the fact that hes built an AP item.

Hes pretty much impossible to get away from with Runic E. and Deadmans Plate with his Bear stance.

Runic Echos is honestly the offender here, it made him too fast, the speed boost on it needs to be replaced with magic penetration or something.

Well i dont know of any direct 1v1 counters

But there is one thign you can do vs the splitpushing runic echoes zzrot apdyr he literally murders towers

He pretty much mauls anyone in a 1v1 and if he can't hell stun and outrun you to the next objective he can also easily outrun ganksquads whilst his team blitzes an objective

The one thing that works in general vs heavy splitpushing is a large amount of hard engage You simply force a 4v5 on your opponents murder them then send 1 guy to defend against the udyr whils you go take a bunch of objectives.

If you are so far behidn you can't even dot his then its game over.

It is as far away from ap-yi as it gets, and calling it ap-udyr is not really corect. He builts one ap item and the rest is tank. And he doesn't built that item because it gives ap, but because of the ms(and maybe mana) Put 10% ms on any of the other jungle items and udyr will happily take it instead of the ap item.

As for counters, either a strong teamfight with hardengage, like Spoofghoul said, or a powerfull splitpusher that can match udyr. Quin with item 3087 is very strong for that. With SS she can easily clear waves, she's good enougha t kiteing to not get run over by him, and her global mobillity is unmatched.

Fiora should be able to out duel him, and with hydra has some good waveclear, though he can out run her. Nunu can just make udyrs life hell from the very beginning, no ms in the world will save you from his nowballs.
