Can we get a better system for AFKs in Ranked?
So yesterday, I grinded my way to Silver 3 without a single problem. Today I get on, thinking that I'll play ranked until I get to Gold. Go into a game, do decent, but lose. Next game we win, and I'm looking optimistic, but after that my day turned from good to me being just downright pissed at my luck. In 4 out of 6 of the games after that, I got an AFK. Not only did they AFK, but they did it AFTER the remake period, so there was no "forgiveness". Instead, I had to tank the losses to my MMR and LP because people can't stay in the flipping game after 3 minutes. Like seriously, I hate that I'm sitting here getting my rank punished because someone else can't stay in the game.... Its one thing if I just get a bad team, it just means I have to try and get them to work together. Its another thing if I don't have the people to make a team.... I can't win a game where everyone is playing there one-tricks if my team is down a player.
There should be a way to alleviate LP / MMR losses when someone on your team quits. I have an idea for this which might work, cause I understand how hard it would be to make an in-game system that can tell the difference between someone intentionally dodging to stop a him/ friends LP loss, and someone that actually afked in-game.
I think it should work something like this: After the game ends, a criteria must be met:
A. That person has to have counted as DCing within the match (they have the X through their portrait in after-game lobby) B. Your entire team has to report him for AFKing
If this criteria is met, the player in question gets a warning / leavebuster / temp ban from ranked (although personally, I think Leavebuster should prevent you from playing ranked), while the rest of the team regains their lost LP for the match.
This is just an idea, and I don't expect it to come into fruition.... But it would be nice if someone at Riot would atleast look into alternate means of dealing with afks other than "We'll punish the player, but you still have to tank the LP losses for it"
