I wish to head into Ranked, and I would like advice on how to do it.

I am wanting to head into ranked. however, I am a little scared and unsure how to go into it exactly. Part of this is because I did try my luck at it in season 6. However, I was still new to league when I tried and I have improved greatly since then and I wish to try and climb.

Now for some context, I intend to que Mid and top, however I do have emergency picks for jg and supp should auto-fill demand it.

That being said, here are the things I personally want to improve on before I go into ranked:

Champions:

Azir Azir Is one of my favorite champs in League; he has an amazing utility passive, great mobility, and and great burst or dps depending on what you need(, and a free turret).

The main issue I have with him is that he is too much of a wild card for me, and (admittedly) one of the main reasons for this is because I have a natural habit to play aggressively, and that is just me...

However there is still indeed improvements I can still make that can help me improve as an Azir main, mainly minor mechanical tweaks and bad habit breaking. But I still wish to polish him a bit more before I go into ranked (Or at the very least, before I use him in ranked).

Taliyah Taliyah is my best champion by far out of my champion pool, the issue I wish to address with how I play her is the fact that ...I really don't know how to play her like a normal Taly player would.

Now for those that are wondering, I normally play Tank Taliyah. Now in the instances where a tank is indeed needed, I excel with it. But in some games it's just not what is needed. And that mainly attributes to item selection when I play normal Taly.

Manly, I just want to round her out before I take her into ranked.

AhriOrianna Mechanical polish and situational Itemazation.

There is nothing much else to say here, I am decent with both champions (Ahri because she accommodates my play style the best, and Orianna because she has similarities to Azir's kit.) but I haven't put the effort in to safely blind pick them in normal draft mode (keyword safely, I do commonly blind pick Ahri into a match-up, but I don't know how best to play aginst my counters should I get counter-picked.)

Beyond that, my only concerns regarding my over-all champion pool would be fleshing it out a bit more, especially top.

Top:KennenTaliyah (Tank Taly, great against most top lainers)

jg:WarwickKindred

Supp:TaricLux (I know Lux might seem like bit of a troll pick, but I do like playing a healing support and Lux was an easy one to pick up. even though someone like Nami or Sokra would likely be better for me to play for that kind of play style.)

Adc: ? sadly... I have never truly learned to properly play an adc champ... this is mainly due to the fact that I can't seem to ever get a proper support in unranked when I que adc... Its mainly troll plcks like tf or Yasuo. (I really hate the current "slap X champ into support and see if it synergies with the adc's champ" mindset after MF was discovered to do well with Ashe. But that is only my personal experience with the role...)

Outside of champions however, there are some places I wish I could polish a bit more before I headed into ranked:

Runes: This is something I would have already taken care of, If it wasn't so pricey...

Masteries: Needs a little work, mainly to the point of making sure I have proper masteries for the champs I play and deleting the masteries for the champs I don't play as much any more.

Warding: sadly, this is something that someone like a diamond player will have to sit me down in a custom game and be like " ok, for this champion you should ward here. And for this champion ward here. If you are planning to take dragon ward here. If you are pushing towers ward here. ETC." I am a "hand's on" learner and no amount of diagrams is going to help me with this...

and the final one, Csing under pressure: The practice tool is great and all, and it really does help me cs better in game. But there are some situations that the practice tool cannot properly emulate (at least to my understanding...) and one of those is something like a Yasuo is trying to deny you cs and you are running low on mana. This isn't something that is too bad, but it can get problematic if I do manage to make it to higher ranks.

I think that about wraps it up, now, how would you recommend I approach ranked or the aforementioned issues of mine? (except Practice, that is a given.)

##1. Which champs are you best at? I would pick the champion you perform the best with and make that your primary lane. If that is tank taliyah though, I would maybe pick your second best as I have a feeling many people will call you a troll for picking it even if it works. If that champion happens to be able to play multiple lanes like Kennen , even better. Based on what you said though, I'm guessing that champion is Azir. He's definitely a strong champion, and if you can play him decently or even become REALLY GOOD at him, then he's a great choice.

##2. How easily does your champion complements most team comps? Orianna Warwick and Lux are easy to slap onto near any team due to providing a mixture of utility and damage, and being decently flexible in builds. (especially WW and Orianna) Whether you are ahead or behind, these champs will always be useful and can change their build accordingly.

Ok, shout out to Orianna. I main her, so I have some opinions on how useful / accessible she is. She can duel / burst squishies, support her carries, and win team fights. Follow the the front line champions after laning phase and you can have a great influence over the flow of the game. She is an odd case as she has few true counters, and her matchups in lane mostly come down to how well you can move her with the ball and keep your opponent at an arm's length. Some matchups SEEM like you are countered, until you realize how to approach and fight them. Don't be fooled by the range on her Q, early game you need to fight at mid range as her autos are 25% of her damage. Also, her build path is highly customizeable after you pick up a item 3165. In fact, building her correctly is just as hard as playing her. The choice between going item 3135 , item 3157, item 3001, or item 3116 second can be pretty hard to see if you don't have a grasp of how much damage or utility your team needs, and how likely you are to get dived. If you get good at her she can help ANY team, but she requires a lot of learning both in how to duel and how to build her for herself/for the team.
