Why am I always playing against higher skilled players???

I am ranked silver 4 (I was once at silver 2 but it got reset etc). One thing that I noticed is that now, I am almost always playing against platinum or gold players. I myself know to play it safe when around players who, more likely than not, are better. 90% of the time though, these players are not on my team. I can lane against them and hold my own alright, but then once it gets to teamfights, they end up kiting better, using certain spells at the right time or the right way, etc. My teammates never know how to beat them, especially if they begin to roam (I try my best to ping MIA when necessary, but it is up to the player to actually react to those pings). Then I am just screwed by them getting fed. It was like this even for ranked so now I might be done with ranked for good. But the thing is though, why am I paired up against really good players if I myself or my teammates are not near their skill level? It's been happening almost every game, and several days ago, my team faced an adc Graves who was Diamond 4. How the heck was I supposed to beat them when our adc was bronze 1?

Please fix the matchmaking, this is a video game. Video games are meant to be fun. I'm trying really hard not to get tilted over this, but getting roflstomped is never quite fun...

That aside, what can I do differently to be a better player?

I'd say pay attention and mimick and pay attention. Beating them will probably get you closer to them.

On the contrary, League's system matches you with like-skilled players. Which unfortunately makes your improvement stag-net, making ranking up hard. If you are getting paired with better people, be grateful, as that is a massive chance to get better.
