Is there any way to base ranked on skill rather than wins?

If you're doing well and winning lane/snowballing/roaming correctly/farming well. And somebody that isn't as good as you or the other team feeds, goes afk, plays ranked prematurely. So the enemy team wins. Is there some way that you (riot) could change this system, so that you aren't punished for doing well? With something like: Reduced lp loss, a game doesn't count as a loss (especially in placements/series games) because this is getting real tough. And I'm losing major interest in the game, as are many people.

Short answer: Nope

Long answer: The only thing that matters in the game is killing the enemy nexus. It doesn't matter if your strategy for doing that is to go full Proxy Singed, dying tons of times, never getting a kill or an assist, but allowing your team to push objectives uncontested, or if you decide to take 5 dragons and 3 barons, destroying every tower along the way. Additionally, prioritizing anything besides killing the nexus will result in players stalling out games that are stomps, just to get more LP. That's going to create a more miserable experience all in all, with the loosing team not wanting to surrender because stalling out means they might get more kills/cs/whatever to not lose as much LP.

It's a suggestion that's been thrown around many a time, and each time it has just as many flaws.

Understandable, but the sad truth is that if something like that were implemented, then the team aspect of LoL would become trivial.

Now do I think that a loss prevented should be made possible when somebody AFKs on your team or there's a disconnect, or if somebody just feeds on purpose. Absolutely. And I think Riot would do it if they had the staff.
