People really need to read context and think on what has happened in the past.

Many threads that I'm seeing involve soooo much complaining and people claiming that Riot's balance team is "killing" the game. Some of the recent complaints I see are about:

  1. Recent dragon buff changes.
  2. Release of the new Assassin Item.
  3. "Lack of" tower changes.
  4. Xin Zhao Changes.
  5. Dominion soon

Each of things have good reasons and explanations, that not many people look into the context of, or just ignore it.

  1. Dragon has been seen across most regions and elos as useless compared to simply sieging or taking baron. The idea of the dragon buff changes are to make taking dragons beyond the first more aggressive. The buff changes are now useful in multiple situations (split push, sieging, diving) rather than a few (only sieging). This will make more team comps want to go for dragons early on and later into the game. Dragon is now more of a real objective, especially now that the 2nd buff really benefits everyone now (fixed damage based on level) rather than carries and split pushers. Also, most people act as if these changes are automatically given to everyone early in the game, when in actuality these only take effect when dragon is killed, which for the buff ranks will take a decent amount of time into the game unless there is really aggressive objective taking.

  2. Many people see the item as currently overtuned, potentially making assassins too strong and safe since they can leave before a kill is finished, and too synergistic with Zed. Whether it is or isn't overtuned, Riot can always balance in future patches, which they plan to do. For making Assassins too safe or strong, Riot has stated many times with regard to this item that now that assassins have items beginning to be specifically tuned to their needs, they can more easily balance assassins without making their kits themselves too strong. This means that once the item begins to be used as a core, they can see where assassins are too strong and begin to balance accordingly. Before, assassins used a massive pool of items that belonged to many different classes, meaning anytime an item was balanced for its specific class, assassins were usually greatly affected as well, and would need buffs or nerfs constantly.

  3. I typically only see gold and lower players complain about this, and the blame is most likely because in games usually something called a tower or structure are meant to protect the player, not vise versa. What people don't realize is that you are only meant to let them protect you for the first 10 minutes or so, and even then they are single target damaging, so a group tower dive is still possible.

  4. Xin changes. Yes, he will be damn hard to kill 1v1 or 1v2, but he's meant to be that way. He was designed as a powerful duelist that can shred people, but is susceptible to crowd control. This also is able to be balanced accordingly if seemingly too strong.

  5. The loss of Dominion. Riot's big reason for the decision is Dominion being out of date, lack of player base, and lack of resources to update Dominion properly. Many people try to call BS on the lack of resources, but somewhat agree on the out of date and low player base. Everyone has been bringing up the fact that Riot is one of if not THE most profitable gaming company in the world, and that there is "no excuse" for Riot to not have resources. Here's the thing though. If they truly have resources available, why would they not use them? Why do people doubt Riot so heavily that they think Riot would pay employees to do nothing? Yes, Riot makes a lot of money, but think on all the different teams that Riot has to deal with. Balance, Visuals, Skins, Music, Art, E-sports, Merchandise, Player Support, Media, Public Relations, Play Testing, Champion Creation, Advertisement, Video making/editing, Interviewing, and some others. There are also plenty of in building jobs which Riot works with that aren't mentioned often, but are obviously needed: janitorial, cooking (they've mentioned an in-company kitchen), finances, etc. AND the biggest expense that Riot (probably) monitors is server costs. Think about it, no one pays monthly for Riot to keep servers up, and with the MASSIVE player-base this game has, as well as all the regions (and regions to come). With thousands (possibly millions) of games played at once it takes a LOT of maintenance on servers, which costs extreme amounts of money.

TL;DR Stop making assumptions and realize the game is ever-changing, usually for the better. Read context on patch notes and releases of new mechanics, items, or champions.
