For the love of god please remove promos

I like to be able to dodge games and take a small hit to my LP when i see someone in champ select on some bullsh*t. I'm not able to do this when it matters most for some reason, which is in my promos. I'm forced to play games with people that are clearly trolling, playing stupid off meta picks, or tilted. This just wastes half an hour of my time and pisses me off. What is the point of promos?

Edit: I played my gold promos since posting this, and my first game had a tristana top and my second had a 13 death draven mid. Guess what? I had to play those, no dodging! Then shortly after losing my promos I had a Ryze mid afk at level 6 causing me to fall even farther back!

Edit part 4: I got tilted and fell to 1 lp silver 1 but im still getting matched with gold 3s how the hell does that make sense?

Promos are supposed to make you feel like you're competing in a championship. They don't. They're just a huge pain in the ass.

Promos exist only to stop players from climbing fast and to force players to play more games to climb. If we look into game history, in and around promos the probability of getting afk, trolls, feeders will be higher. This is simply to give a game that has lower chances of winning and unless we play like our rank+2 divisions to solo carry games, it will be mostly a loss.

This is not only unfair, but not fun to play because of bad matchmaking and not being able to dodge. Promos should be removed and matchmaking should be made better, so that rank becomes closer to skill.

Actually the ranked system that's used in TFT would be a good model. There needs to be fluidity in the ranked system. Either that, or actually give us the MMR at the same time as the rank - enough of the mystery meat.

An underrated game called Gundam Battle Operation has something called Rated matches where you not only gain "LP" based on wins, but also based on how well you did against your rival(aka the person closest to you in skill). You lose but performed better than your rival? Your LP loss is lowered. Ranking up doesn't require winning promos. You have enough LP, you rank up. Don't, you demote.

What LoL Ranked needs to do is do something similar to this.

That would also means losing loss protection, something similar to Overwatch system.

Honestly, the most infuriating thing about promos to me is how it uses lp. At an awkward lp number like 95? Guess who's only playing for 5lp :^)

Also, I was thinking... Why do we start at 0 LP after winning promos, but go down to 70 or lower after losing? If there are going to be promos it should be 90 LP after losing them and starting at 10 LP after a win or something.

I don't know if Riot ever gave a reason, but I imagine the reason promotions and demotion protection exist is to make it a lot harder for people to flip flop between two tiers. I suspect many people got into, for example, platinum elo and then stopped playing because they were afraid of losing a game or two, going back into gold, and having to struggle to get back to platinum. With promotions and demotion protection existing, if a person makes it into a new tier, it's more likely that person deserves to be in that tier and basically gets that tier division 4 as a floor for the rest of the season.

The reason I enjoy TFT so much is there's no promotions and any LP you earn that takes you over 100 carries across to your knew rank.

So if you're Silver 1 99 LP and you win a game which gives you 30 LP you'd start in Gold IV 29 LP

i agree but i feel like the 2/3 promos should still exist when ur going from silver to gold, or gold to plat. Otherwise it would be pointless to have all the ranks.

I think it's fine to have promos between tiers (bronze, silver, gold, etc.), but don't think they are really necessary to go between divisions.

I'd rather be able to fluxuate between S1 and S2 and S1 again than be able to fall immediately from G4 back to S1.
