support levels

watching worlds and i notice that in pretty much every match, by mid game, the support players are 3 and sometimes 4 levels down on everyone else. im assuming the reason is because they roam away from minion waves to get vision a lot, but it seems a bit rough if thats the case. supports scale into the game with levels more than anything else right? i feel like this puts them at a big disadvantage.

Having a support item could give more xp per ward, like how jungle items give more for monsters.

I think a good solution to this would be to give experience with vision score instead of just from destroying wards.

They're supposed to be behind in levels, that's just how supports work. Unless your name is Pyke in which case if you aren't at least the same level as your ADC you're trolling.

This is why supports are balanced on the strong side. It's why the Sona/Taric lane existed in pro play, because if supports get gold/xp they're overpowered. They had a system that gave experience based on the difference between your level and the rest of your team, but they had to remove/nerf it because people figured out how to abuse it.

I tend to get behind In levels playing as support In Mid to Late game by 2 or 3 l evels, even tho I myself don't roam as much as professional players, I mostly stay Bot lane. In Mid game, I roam to provide vision on important objectives (Baron, Dragon or choke points) or I try to stop a splitpush, usually on my own while my team is either pushing or killing Baron.
