Why all the class updates failed so miserably.
Because none of them addressed any of the core problems of the class
They have done quite a few of those updates and you should think that after a couple someone over at riot hq would have figured this out But apparently they didn't because more followed
Take the assassin update It's a shining example of how Riot really didn't know what they were doing
As a class, and ill probably get some hate for this, they really don't have a place in league right now. They are a flawed class at their very core This is a BIG problem. The issue is that as a class they have no strategic use besides killing priority targets, and fast. They have a few tactical uses like zoning in fights and such but even those are not many, hell even there one strategic use is more tactical in nature then strategic. The main problem here lies in the fact that this is incredibly toxic to play against if they are ever strong However the opposite becomes true when there are counter options like the support items and some of the carry items In that case assassins become borderline useless, and it becomes a toxic meta for any player who likes to play these champions
What did riot do with the assassin update, well they simply flipped the switch from making assassins toxic to play against to making a toxic environment to play against for assassins Which really doesn't solve anything, all it does is make a different group of people feel like shit.
Rather should have addressed the core issue, which is lack of any strategic use in league, and give them some
The worrying part is that either they didn't even see it, in which case god help us Or they did see it and can't find any sort of creative solutions so they took the lazy way out and just flipped the switch of which group of people(champs/classes) to put in the dumpster for a while Now this is somewhat more understandable, but not after making and balancing the game for a fucking decade, they really shouldve learned by then . .
Now i just took the assassin class as an example to point at how they just failed so hard
Other classes have other big issues, sometimes game warping ones But those things never seem to get addressed
It's like riot attempts to solve half of a symptom of the bigger issue which doesn't work even if they would've been successful at that but they aren't because they take the most complicated solutions and then mess up the most easy parts and leave a mess behind and then end up with more problems and issues then they started
Or they take things in a certain direction and then half ass it, like the overloaded kits of a bunch of champs because they want to make them more interesting and give them more options and this is how all champions should end up and 2 new champs and reworks later they are like uh yea we got 4 out of the 130 over the course of this year this aint gonna work and huray we got 4 new balance nightmares
Really confident in the upcoming rune update /s
