I know that as a laner if you ever get pushed to your tower its
Melee Minion: Two Tower Hits + 1 Auto Caster Minion: 1 Auto + Tower Hit + 1 Auto
But I can do that easily as an AD Champion, when it comes to mages, hitting the Melee minions a pain since I'm forced to use an ability and waste mana. Anyone know how to farm like this without using AD Marks because no magic penetration is no damage.
Take the spellblade mastery if you want; it doesn't add MUCH damage, but it does add some. Otherwise, you might need to auto the melee minions once sometime before the 2nd tower hit to get it low enough.
you might want to work on autoing the creeps that the tower isn't focusing, so you can easily last hit them when the time comes. It's really hard to practice while in game, which is why some people choose to practice csing in custom games. Something like autoing the targeted minion, then autoing the next minion, then killing the first minion, then autoing a new minion, then killing the second, etc.
Personally i just run 3 attack speed marks and 1 Quint on some of my mages (including ahri) because im noob :D It really helps throughout the whole game, and even makes aa between spells feel more natural. In some cases, it can even be a good way to buff your early game, on mages like ori and tf where aa are necessary. Like i said, im noob tho
i run like 4 ad marks especially on swain since he gets pushed to turret quite easily. missing out on 5 magic pent is like losing 3-4% damage early game, still quite a big amount but worth if you can last hit a lot better.
otherwise the answer is to manage your minion wave, try to thin out the wave with autos before they get to turret.
Trick2g said something funny, "If you suck at last hitting as a AP mage just run AD runes and masteries to help you farm, you'll get your items anyways" maybe not all AD but enough to where its easier.
When playing ap ezreal. i just use AD marks. then i can 2 tower shot 1 hit melee creeps. and 1 aa tower shot kill casters. except with ezreal i can AA tower shot AA kill the casters an then Tower shot Q kill another caster. since ez also has ad scaling i dont feel like i lose out to much on damage. but if you really bad at last hitting ad marks are worth. cause if you dont got farm then you dont got items so magic pen wont do shit for you if you got no items. and ap ezreal has atrocious wave clear so you have to be good at last hitting to do well with him in lane.
