Elise in the new jungle

League of Legends Match History

I've linked my match history because I have heard that Elise isn't a great jungler so far in this preseason. I personally think she is still great, and I wanted to know how you all build her when you jungle. I've never tried going with the AP jungle item, because I've had much success with the item 3726 (Rangers + Devourer).

  1. I think it is quite deadly with her attack speed nuke on her W when in spider form.
  2. Her ganks are still strong with her stun and her kit in general (there can be a lot of surprise dps)
  3. After the item 3726 has been purchased, the clear speed is astounding. When it gets more than 20 stacks on it, it can be very deadly to squishy champs.

So what I want to know, is theory building + how you build her if you jungle with her. Items like item 3124 item 3115 item 3100 are all nice, but I usually rush item 3726 and either go towards item 3151 as one of my only other dps items, or depending on enemy team comp and how we are doing, go to things like item 1031 into item 3068 or other tanky items.

Again, just let me know what you think.

I think it's really a matter of "Why do you pick her over someone else" because she's a glorified stun at this point. She's a ball of stats that Riot has nerfed and nerfed and nerfed to the point where it's just kind of sad to see where she is compared to in her prime. Need a gank machine? Why not Xin, J4, Vi. Need AP? Why not Fiddle, Mao, or Sej? Need a carry jungler? Why not Kha, Fiora, or Aatrox? Need objective control? Mundo still doesn't have capped damage on his Q, Panth solos Dragon at 3 minutes. Need engage? Xin, J4, Vi, Aatrox, Panth, Mao, basically every other jungler engages better than her. She's a jack of all trades that's basically an AP Lee with none of the flashy plays. At this point the only people that play her, imo, are dedicated mains, because straight up jungle mains have moved onto people that thrive in the new jungle (Looking at you Warwick).

I used to love Elise, but damn does she need some love. Riot won't buff her as is, because she's a ball of stats and Riot hates those. It's a shame someone released so recently will need a relaunch to be viable again, but it's true. She probably just needs a new Q, really. W and E in both forms are interesting, but just slapping " % damage nukes" on both sides was a bad move.

I'm no jungle main, but I'd decided a while back that when the jungle changes came out, I was going to go on a streak of Elise games until I got semi-decent with her in teambuilder. Yesterday, I played the first two. In both cases, I rushed Juggernaut Trailblazer, though I did so in such a way that would have let me go Magus if the team needed the damage instead. Following that came boots/Liandry's. Then Abyssal, Zhonya's, and I was working on Rylai's at the end. I'd get things like Sunfire, but in neither game did the enemy ADC put out that much damage so it wasn't really necessary.

While I don't jungle very frequently (my game count is over a thousand and I have five jungle games ever against actual humans), Elise certainly seems to be plenty powerful, even if you get your buff stolen. In both games, my red buff was taken by the enemy jungler. Now, the first time, I stole his anyways, so it didn't matter, but the second one I just went about my merry way and it didn't really change anything aside from making me back as I couldn't smite it for health.

I may try other builds over the coming games (like Devourer as you suggest), but I don't think I'd ever use Guinsoo's or Nashor's as those are so heavily damage focused that I can't see myself being as big of a help to my team with them.

I think Elise is plenty good in the jungle right now. Is she WW-level? No. But I think she's a good, solid pick.

Unless you are playing in high elo, i don't recommend playing Elise. She is great early jungler but she falls off very hard. In low elo, even if you are jungling effectively, you can expect your team to now be able to close out the game with the advantage you gave them by picking elise. Thus, the game is prolonged slightly which enables more room for error that allows enemy teams to catch up.
