Okay, you're doing this, but what if the Morde rework fails?

I get I'll never stop the Morde rework and that I probably shouldn't, but I have one underlying question about this experiment as a whole: If this fails, what will become of Morde, will he just be left that way and essentially in the dust for all us mains to cry over, or will you temporarily revert the changes just so you can figure out what to do, because the last thing we want is for you to Olaf a champion when it isn't even dominating the meta.

When they screw up a rework they usually only edit numbers until its somewhat popular.

But why they put so much effort into reworks when some champions could use minor reworks on a couple abilities to be popular... Quinn

CertainlyT is on this. Do you really expect that Morde will end up with a net nerf off of this? I'm kind of surprised his ult isn't dealing true damage by this point.

Here's what will happen. Mordekaiser rework will fail. No question. And here's why:

Firstly, Mordekaiser is immobile, CC-less, and deals most of his damage over time in melee range. And they send him in a lane dominated by range, mobility and self peel. Good luck ever landing those 3 hits on Vayne, Lucian, Jinx, Ezreal, etc.

Second, ADCs are gruesomely overpowered. Let's take a look on which kind of champion has went into what lane, over the years:

Top - Tanks, fighters, mages, assassins and ADCs Mid - Fighters, mages, assassins... and ADCs Jungle - Tanks, fighters, assassins, sometimes mages Bot - Support and ADC

ADC is the most important champion on the team - there is a reason there is always an ADC on the team. There is always an ADC in the botlane, and possibly another one in mid or top lane. And to compete with these overpowered champions he is meant to replace on a team, Mordekaiser needs to be overpowered himself, even more so to compensate for glaring weaknesses in said role like lack of range or mobility.

My prediction is as follows: when released Mordekaiser will have an absolutely abysmal win rate, in range of 30-40%, for no other reason that he is forced into a gimmick doomed to fail. Since they can't ignore champion being that bad, they'll start slowly buffing him - until people start bringing him to solo lanes once again once his power level allows that. And then, since CertainlyT (who's responsible for some of the League's most cancerous solo laners and THE most cancerous botlane Kalista Thresh ) "can't see a way to make him healthy in a solo lane", he's going to get smacked with a nerf hammer until he is never seen in a game again - for no other reason than daring to show his helmeted face in a role outside of the one Riot appointed him, all while they preach how they "encourage diversity" while buffing Lee Sin back into numero uno jungle spot.

They'll buff the shit out of him.

They do it with every rework.

ArbiterOfTruth8/7/2015, 4:19:48 AM6 votes

They'll pat themselves on the back after making some changes then sweep it under the rug, not to be at looked again for years. See Cass rework.

Sadly, I can guess what will happen if this goes live. They are going to see how bad his winrate is in botlane and decide to buff up his damage, because he is an immobile melee with no cc, so they buff the only thing in his kit, damage. He starts making appearances in top lane and mid lane due to large damage buffs, and they consequently nerf him because of it. It will be a never ending cycle until they give him a real rework, not this ADC Morde botlane bullshit.

There's two ways this can end up if the rework fails:

  1. They revert all changes, leave Morde as he has been, and rework him in a year or two.
  2. They pull a Cassiopeia and buff his numbers so high that he literally can't fail no matter how bad the kit is.

Cass will happen and CertainlyT fanboys are going to defend it by saying "BUT DRAGON".

What are you talking about?? Reworks can't go wrong Gangplank Fiora ... oh

Ap morde will be a thing of the past, ad bruiser will probably be seeing more play than anything else. Hybrid builds generally lack power since the items are garbage tier or too expensive (works on kayle, but that's kayle and even then ap is far more superior) it's safe to say he won't be viable mid lane since his damage got hit hard and transfered to his Q which is great if morde had a gap closer or cc of any kind.

My theory is that he will be veigar-ed and ignored just like veigar is. I have to admit that I'm fine with all the changes but the Q change is atrocious at all levels, he will have to build AS to try and land his 3 hits before the target runs away and chances are you will hardly (if ever) be able to land all 3 hits on a ranged character who has not been cc-ed by an ally.

Even if the rework is successful, he'll probably end up one of the many "niche" picks in the game, champions like Ashe that fill their own distinct role in the game, but aren't powerful enough in enough situations to justify many people playing them consistently. And, honestly, that's not a bad place for a champion to be. Judging by what I've seen so far on the PBE (when people aren't insisting they ADC when you've already called and picked morde bot. he still can't support worth a damn), it could very well be come out fine. We won't know for sure until it hits live, though.
