Maybe WE'RE the ones changing, not League
I'm finding myself super excited for the new Mortal Kombat 11 game primarily because I've played ALOT of League "level 262" (^_^) up until recently and can't wait for the 1v1 "non-rng teammates" based gameplay of a fighter.
Framing it that way got me thinking about the recent matchmaking woes league has been going through. It's not great loading up a game and feeling like winners and losers were determined at matchmaking. Part of that is how hard teams can snowball before laning phase is even over, but in a way league has always been like this.
The game has always had unwinnables and has always sought to push a 50 percent winrate on us. However, as the general player base ages and improves 9 seasons in, maybe it's just becoming more and more obvious to us how many games are out of our control. Maybe the game is just doing what it's always done: Provide "balance" after setting up matches throughout the year and thousands of games. Maybe after 10 YEARS of league we the player base have simply grown less satisfied with that model.
