Patch 5.20 and Darius

I've been thinking about it for a while and the nerfs that Darius received are good I just don't think Riot went about it in the right way. The change to the width of his Q is great, but the nerf to the slow seems really pointless, it makes no sense as to what they were hoping to achieve. The problem that Darius had and still has is his insane late game damage and sustain that comes with his tankiness, but riot didn't touch either of those things and instead opted to reduce the slow on his E. I mean it's great that it doesn't have a 90% slow anymore, but it really doesn't matter how much any of his slows are (unless they are exceedingly low or 100%) because no matter what the slow is it will still do the job it is meant to do.

Darius's biggest weakness is that he has no gap closer which means he is very susceptible to kiting. You beat him by being faster than him. The slows that he has help make up for this weakness without completely getting rid of it. So why does it not matter how much he slows you by? Well all of his slows are only applied when you are in his auto attack range. Yeah his E has range so it is applied further than his auto attack range, but he pulls you into his auto attack range so it really doesn't count. When Darius is slowing you it is not so his team can catch up to you it is so he can deal damage to you without you running out of his auto attack range. So no matter what the slow is as long as Darius can be faster than you it does its job.

Yet, the Riot balance team still thought it was a better idea to nerf something that really in the long run doesn't matter and leave the real problems alone.
