he doesn't seem very good, at all
which means he'll be overbuffed before people can figure out the best build
I wouldn't say i am support main but i do play it a decent amount and i play with caitlyn adc. I just do not feel like i can roam as i would get insta killed by the jungler if i were to get caught out. The main problem i struggle with is to save my adc, the potential is there but i feel like other supports are far more superior in saving and doing more dps than pyke wich is a shame cos the thematic and play style is very interesting to me.

You can't expect to be a master on him when he hasn't even been out for a week yet.
Get some practice on him first.
He's honestly fine. Just take a while to learn his in's and outs, he's got very distinct moments of power and if you pick the wrong time to go in you WILL get punished.
First of all, are you a support main?
Secondly, Pyke benefits highly from roaming. If you can help your jungler in the crab skirmish or rush mobility boots to gank mid, he can make your team go largely ahead.
His laning is not easy but I'd advice you to suggest your adc to pick a bursty ADC
to maximize the potential.
I main support in summoners rift, but i play ARAM way more. he is the worst champion in the game in ARAM, period. his entire kit is tank abilities but he cant tank. hes incredibly easy to kill but cant harass. his cast range is tiny. his whole kit screams frontline, but hes so fragile that by the time hes in range to cast anything the enemy control mage or adc has killed him. at this point in ARAM his perma corpse is basically a gold buff for the other team. Honestly before they announced his passive, he looked incedible. hopefully they change his passive so he can tank and lower his damage to compensate
Idk, maybe because he was just released so you haven't found the optimal playstyle yet...? you know like most new champs that aren't zoe.
I found Pyke fairly easy to start learning, as I play alot of Assassins. Assassin mains and support mains will find the easiest way into Pyke. My first 3 items are as follows, Boots Of Mobility, Duskblade, Steraks Gage

Ok I played a fair amount on PBE (Even explained my playstyle on a couple of posts which apparently helped some people) so here's the items I tended to run. If you need a full explaination as to what worked for me I can do this also.
Note: Steraks is REALLY bad as he has NO bonus HP, therefore gets no shield from it
