Flash Frost ridiculously hard to land

I'm pretty sure it's at the very least tied for slowest moving skillshot in the game, and Anivia is supposed to be a ranged mage. I played Anivia mid recently and probably landed less than 8 Qs the whole game. I only managed to do well by playing ridiculously safe and never directly engaging, but only following up on someone else's engage, which meant I had to hide way back from Katarina during laning phase and have our jungler CC her before I could do jack shit. I get that having skillshots adds counterplay, but this one is just flat-out unreasonably hard to hit anything with. If you aim it right at someone from 2/3rds of the max range, if they have boots or high base movement speed, they don't even have to sidestep to dodge, they can just run backwards away from it and laugh as it explodes uselessly a mile away from them. I'm not saying make Anivia a ridiculous un-counterable harass monster, but her Q needs at least SOME kind of buff, either make it easier to land or make it more spammable, preferably the first.

I find it rather easy to hit with. I think it's actually faster than Nids spear.

The thing actually VISIBLY curves in direction of Anivia's opponent to make up for any potential lag on the part of Anivia. It is easy to see it curving with lagless computers. Or maybe I'm the one who is lagging, but that shot has curved in my eyes plenty times.

Hew q is fine.

Anivia's Q is intended to be nearly impossible to hit at max range, and even mid-range, but super easy to double tap when being dived.

The set up from an ally into a full damage flash frost -> e is absolute insane damage just from base values.

To top this off using her wall and ultimate properly can force enemies to walk in a way in which Flash frost is very difficult to dodge in the late game.

Anivia is a control mage that punishes heavy aggression.

You have to shoot it when your opponent least expects it, or use it to break their habits. See an opponent that likes to try and last hit minions? There's a set-up for a Q there. Trying to Q a lot shouldn't be a priority until around Level 4 when you've got at least 2 on E. Even then, if you don't have a good opportunity, it's best to wait until Level 6.

Once 6, you have 2 ways to engage into E. This is great because if you get close enough, you can Quickly R -> Q/E/W (mix around, depending on the situation), as the R's to slow/give the debuff, E to do the HUGE damage from debuff, Q to either allow you to get into range to E or keep them in R longer, and then W to do the same as Q (except no damage). (So in relation to the question, R should make Q way easier to land and more effective).

Using your wall (W) is also a great way to lead the enemy to where you want to go, which in turn allows for an easy Q hit.

If you're still having trouble, the last bit of advice is to attempt casting it WHILE YOU'RE MOVING AWAY. For some reason this messes with people's minds and I get better hits that way (but that just might be me). All in all though, you just have to outsmart your enemy. Don't allow them to outsmart you by trying to attempt to Q a lot and waste your precious mana.
