Is Ancient Coin supposed to proc its gold passive when ally minions kill enemy minions?

UNIQUE – FAVOR: Enemy minions killed by your allies sometimes drop coins that give either Gold 25 or restore 10% missing mana (minimum 15). Cannon minions always drop coins.

I have noticed that Ancient Coin still drops gold when allied minions kill enemy minions. If Ancient Coin needs a nerf, maybe this could be changed so that the gold only drops when allied champions kill minions.

Or if this is intentional, could it be clarified in game?

Minions are your allies. So yes.

Allies are those that fight alongside you, enemies are those you fight against. Just because minions aren't capable of casting skills or deal huge amounts of damage doesn't make them any less of an ally than the champion you're teamed up with in your lane.
