Normal MMR should be the same as Ranked

I'm currently sitting at Plat 3 and kind of struggling being really good at some roles and not so great at other roles (Mid, ADC) I wish to practice the roles I'm weak at so i Que up for some normal teambuilder. But i cant practice at all when every single game is a stomp when i am matched with low silver players. I cant practice in Ranked or else I will lose. There is just no way to get better unless I spend upwards of 100 games in normals raising my MMR. I honestly feel myself becoming worse playing with people much lower then me. Just some thoughts.

Well only thing you can is play alot of normals lol. I am Plat III too and in normals I match people from low Gold up to Diamond and even Master from time to time. But that is because I have nearly 2400 normal games.

But if X player doesn't like the mentality of ranked games and only plays normals, he shouldn't be blocked at a low normal MMR. I mean, this would create unbalanced games as well ; if not more unbalanced. And that won't even help him getting better, being good at stomping low elos =/= being good at facing high elos

I cannot upvote the OP enough. I really don't play unranked that much unless it's with a group, or I want to test a new champ. Testing a new champ doesn't mean I should be knocked down multiple divisions past what I face in ranked.

If I wanted a sandbox, I would play against bots.

I only play norms. If I do get into ranked it's going to be hard for me to climb because the gap between my normal and ranked MMR is huge.

I wouldn't recommend having normal MMR be based on ranked MMR simply because that would artificially cap players who don't play ranked.

Perhaps it should use the higher of Normal MMR and Ranked MMR when matchmaking? It's one simple solution, though I'm not sure what the full consequences would be.

I can imagine it would be more of a waiting game for high elo players. Just think about it. The majority are bronze and low silver players. WHile gold are only 30% therefore I can only imagine plat has to be far less
